Just about finished with my new UHMW skid shoe project, here's an update.

I welded the new skid shoe assembly together, painted it, and attached the UHMW to the bottom of the shoes.

Today or tomorrow I'll install them on the Dozer Blade and try them "new shoes" out this weekend with our snow storm that's on the way.

Here's a couple of pictures:

Previous post for this new UHMW skid shoe project are #671, #672, #675 #678, & #681.

Pixguy, it looks like the snow storm was keeping you busy !

I installed a 14" or 16" (?) aluminum diamond plate (material I had) riser on top of my snowblower about 4 years ago because the snowfall was higher then the top of the snowblower.

It has worked out great and I have now more snow flowing over the top of the snowblower.

Here's a picture of my riser addition:

You're right KC, that would've helped in this storm.

OK, I'm finally FINISHED with my new UHMW skid shoes for the Dozer Blade !

Today I installed the skid shoes onto the Dozer Blade and adjusted the height with the existing spacers to the height I was plowing with the OEM existing skid shoes.

There was about 3"-4" of snow on the driveway, so I tried out the new shoes and they worked a lot better than the old shoes.

All the time I was plowing, I was using the float position and never had to raise the blade while plowing, and it's nice not to have to make adjustments from the float position.

With the old shoe I would of had to raise the blade many times in order to not dig into the gravel driveway, because this last week in December has been quite a bit warmer than normal.

Not enough to melt any snow but enough to soften up the ice that's normally on the driveway (sort of like late March or early April during the spring thaw).

Here's the final 2 pictures of this project:

Yes your picture shows exactly why I added the riser to the snowblower.

And also when I'm snowblowing the edges of the driveway during the winter, the riser make a nice sharp cut to the edges.

Gonna hafta get me wunna those, KC.... We had a little less snow (23-24") where I am, maybe 30 miles north of Pixguy, but still had to go over areas twice due to snow "rollover." How did you fasten that to the blower (maybe pics of the outside)?
