For those of you who were members of friendly politics, we have updated and finalized our decision to close the forum here and direct everybody to our new website TopNewsTalk for the discussion of news and current events, including politics.

While we had announced that we'd be moving user accounts and posts from TBN to the new site, we decided against that due to feedback received as well as the added work necessary to ensure a smooth a bug free transition (if that's even possible).

So all said and done, we're happy to welcome anybody interested in conversations about today's current events to the new site.

For convenience we've added a redirect link in place of the Friendly Politics forum. If you haven't already, please go ahead and register on the new site as that will be necessary to post there.

Thanks for your patience and understanding as we've navigated the ongoing needs of this particular topic section.

Hopefully this will be the best solution moving forward and improve the quality of threads on both sites.

I have found the TBN brain trust invaluable for a plethora of topics... retirement, health, green energy, water systems/wells, computers, telecom, vehicle purchases, home and barn construction, etc... none necessarily tractor specific unless viewed in the broadest sense.

Years ago I joined a TBN offshoot Country Living? but it never really developed...

That's all tractor and rural related. Never heard of that other board.

I would like to request a bit more adherence to the rules regarding signatures however. Still way too much 'scripture' and other borderline quotes.

This is what I did a long time ago. Simple solution.

EDIT: I turned them off, not because I found any of them offensive (Not something I typically allow others to do...life is too short), but rather because of the room they take up when viewing posts.

We are moderators, not TBN Rules Compliance Officers. We do not read every post looking for other rules violations either, e.g., people violating rules just to stir things up.

To repeat, as Muhammad said in another thread, if you believe someones signature violates the rules, report it and/or turn them off. If the moderators find it offensive, we will notify the person.

Solve it yourself or complain, your choice.

Any thoughts to moving the Funny Meme and Joke threads from old FP to Front Porch? Those were really the only reasons to go to FP as every time I looked into another thread there I would see a handful of normal posts, and then 40 pages of childish name calling, so I pretty much gave up trying...

Are they political memes? I haven't followed that thread but I'm guessing it's long.
