Installation instructions tell me to wire directly to battery. Seems high risk...a hat thrown over the lever or a child climbing on the tractor could fry my battery and/or solenoid. Late model L3901 Kubota... which circuit should I tap to get power only when "ignition" is on? Suggestions appreciated.

Does the key switch have a accessory terminal , you also need a fuse.....

I will check that, thanks. I completely understand how to wire the solenoid switches....depending on the solenoid amp draw, I may even need a relay....I just wanted to find a circuit to tap that would be dead when the machine is not powered up.

My kubota also has a off/on button to power the switch on the loader joy stick.....

Well, I suppose that's one way to skin the cat. It would reduce the risk of someone wankering the battery or the solenoid. Hmmm....

It lights up green when on just a round push button.....

I have a cabbed tractor and I tied the 3rd function valve into the pre-existing radio circuit. I have no plans for a radio so the pre-wired and fused circuit was very handy for me to use.

I have mine wired to the battery. I have no issues. Who is going to hold down a momentary switch long enough to be a problem.

Hard wire to the battery with a fused circuit and a relay for the high amp draw. Power the relay from any low amp circuit available that is "key on".

Kubota's pushbutton switch on the joystick is to disable the 3rd function buttons so you aren't accidentally activating them if you are doing standard loader bucket chores or a set of forks for example.

The working side of the relay wire in a fuse straight to battery. The control side of the relay go off of something switched with the ignition on like the radio or something. Fuse the control side with a 3 or 5amp fuse.

But it's switched. No power when the key is off.

Correct ,No power when key is off I just shut the power off if I have forks, bucket on in case you hit the switch its not trying to pressurize the lines.......

Yep. The OP is trying to figure out how to wire it so it's dead when the key is off.
