I was just reading the Sweden is one of the slow to act holdouts...

Yes they have banned groups of 500 or more but grade school still in session.

My sister in law is Swedish although as a child she only lived there a few years.

Apparently one of the ministers said people also die from economic collapse.

Even worse are elected officials who continually denied anything needed to be done because they wanted to keep the economy rolling.
Mardi Gras could have been shut down, China was restricting movement, but the Mayors excuse is "nobody told me to"
Spring Break beaches could have been closed, but all the $$$ would have been spent elsewhere.

All the states could have been telling us to shelter in place.

Now finally the Northeast is looking like it may be told to shelter in place. But given a significant warning everybody starts to flee and spread the virus.

And many of the young, only worried about getting a mild flu, will continue to spread it to us older people.

And us older people who've seen SHTF scenarios before stocked up on food and supplies and have to sit it out.

It reminds me of my mine training for Bosnia. Our squad was on patrol when the instructor popped a fake mine, guys scattered. I crouched and froze, knowing the only SAFE route would be to retrace my steps or start probing carefully. Instructor flunked the rest of the squad.

Until the gov. steps in and tell you where to go or not go.

keep cool and spaced out (3 meters is good)

I was talking about where I go to church or not but at this point people movement has not been really limited around my area. The roads are busy again but not that bad because college and all schools is done from home now. Being a go get her I am in town twice at least 5 times a week. That is when I make my TSC, Walmart and McDonald's run. Our business has been the work from home model for the last two years so no changes for us. We had one employee get in a bad accident about 3 years ago and the doctor missed the broken bones in her foot. They healed poorly and arthritis set up so she moved to FL so we made the change. It was planned for the end of 2019 some we went home and paid rent to this March. We had been shifting everything to be web since 2014 and we had not business through the front door.

I expect many will not go back to the office model when this is all over.

That's pretty funny. Moss, you need to take a walk and get some fresh air!

Funny you should say that. We went for a walk this afternoon. 4 miles. Came back and there were 3 pages of posts in this thread. Then nothing for 1 whole hour. :confused3:

Well done you lot (and the Mods); it's Sunday afternoon and #6 is still going.

Didn't want to bring this up but you may have heard about the cruise ship MS Zaandam [Holland America Line] that's stuck at the Pacific side of the Panama Canal, trying to get to Florida. 4 have died, 2 more have tested positive for the virus and many more (passengers & Crew) are sick with 'something'.

Well, my Aunt is on that ship. Locked down in her internal cabin. Sporadic updates from her as the WiFi from that part of the world isn't the best.

Just thought I'd pass this on. :(

I read elsewhere where someone from China said it is the custom in some families to separate cremation ashes into several urns to give to various family members. So analyzing the urn count doesn't tell us anything.

He said a better basis for analysis is 15 million cell phone accounts cancelled. Maybe due to loss of income, maybe because the customer is no longer around. But don't trust 'official' numbers for anything.

Cell phone revenue shown in the companies' financial statements might be a credible source to research this.

Oh man. We all hope she is ok.

Pass this along to her. It might cheer her up.
