I had thought you could always get the virus for free.

One can get it for free ... but ultimately one will have to pay ... although the price varies from individual to individual ...

Anyone know what the back story is with GM and War Powers Production?
Here's a frankly political description, essentially saying Kushner directing FEMA may have slowed things down. Also that the proposed cost of the ventilators from GM is more than 18 F-35's. I think it was elsewhere that I read Elon Musk will provide free, as many as he can buy or build.

Obviously this is just one part of the picture and you need to read other sources to see the whole picture.

Update: "4 p.m. EST Friday, Trump reportedly invoked the Defense Production Act, authorizing HHS Secretary Azar to compel GM to produce an unspecified number of ventilators"

The past 2 weeks we have, for the most part shut down from working. Probably be another 3 weeks at a minimum before we go back. My wife decided to fill her time making masks to donate to our local hospital. She has been doing it 10 hrs a day for 3 days. Made 250 of them..... This is how I know she is a better person than I am....

If anybody has been looking for a positive post amongst the gloom and doom... they just found it. I have to wonder how you get any sleep at night... it seems like her wings must keep slapping you in the face.

Just like ALL the finger lickers. Something that has bugged me all my life.
I've always had a problem with that too. Maybe because most of my life working with things that i'd not put in my mouth, has something to do with it. Maybe if i worked in a pie factory, it would be different. Mmmm pie!

I thought a little while ago it was headed for lock down

I wonder if the moderators have realized that locking it down is just silly....we will have version 7, 8, 9 etc.

The PA Governor just issued the next level Stay at home order. Bummer I was escaping to the farm and playing.. I mean working with the tractor. Spring is coming on and next week things will definitely need mowing. If we have to wait till July or August to mow that will be fun. Going to be a long Spring cooped up at home.

Definitely some advantages living on the farm a mile in from the highway. No neighbors within a half mile or more. Having my groceries delivered. Go out for prescriptions only - drive through pharmacy. But there are no cases with 40 miles of me anyway, so probably am pretty safe. And actually getting caught up on some old chores and the honey-do lists.

It looks to me like the moderator is paying more attention to this thread and zapping inappropriate posts instead of locking this thread.
Thank you management!

I believe that he/they've been doing that all along, in CV-19 # 1-5. After a while though those certain few posters keep sniping at each other so fast that they can't get deleted fast enough. Even moderators have their limits after all.

Wow! Was behind a day and a half... started to check on posts to reply to certain ones in particular. The list got too long and decided to delete the whole lot. Many posts I was going to debate, but I'm trying to take the high road. Wish others would do the same especially in these tough days where the short term is more unknown for so many than I can remember.

One thing I will say is that this virus is hitting close to home now. A business associate of mine lost her brother last night from the virus. He was a 41 year old city transit driver in Seattle. My ex-wife was tested several days ago... for the first time since our divorce, I was sincerely hoping the best for her. Sort of a joke here but thankfully, that test was negative.

It is no joke around here but in the same breath I will say I am laughing at the memes being posted on the subject. Got to keep a sense of humor. Someday it might be all someone has that they can give or should I say, transmit, to others. Please practice safe distance strategies for everyone's sake.

We can still conduct business during this difficult period it will just take a mindset accepting change... we are very resourceful and ingenious people and it's time we just apply it more these days. Working together we can do just about all we can imagine.
