The last "official" count yesterday was over 30,000 cases and under 300 fatalities.

From CBS News TV Channel 6 WRGB Albany, NY
"The number of dead in the U.S. rose to 1,041 as of late Wednesday, with nearly 70,000 infections.
New York State alone accounted for more than 30,000 cases and close to 300 deaths, most of them in New York City."

Where are the bodies??

I have been asking this for a few days. 22k dead worldwide as of this AM. Up a couple of thousand from yesterday. Four months into a pandemic and hardly a blip in deaths.

Well a partial answer...at least in NYC. This from two hospital nurses in NYC at different facilities. The number of deaths are "unknown". There are not enough test kits to test for the virus. If a patient has a respiratory issue the treatment is the same as for this virus. They do not have enough test kits to check everyone (which I find hard to believe...but what I was told). So when a patient dies, it may be by the virus , or not, and who knows how the death is recorded. I also learned that other places may not be using this protocol. So the actual number may be lower or higher depending on the narrative desired. My pessimistic nature figures the actual numbers are lower to make the pandemic seem worse than it is....more $$$$. It is always about the $$$.

I have no idea what other countries are doing wrt reporting but I know South Korea (SK) is doing very well both in terms of testing, spread and low mortality. NIH (Not Invented Here) syndrome is a reality...I have seen it in business...most of you have as well. We keep thrashing around, or so it appears, when sending a handful of decent doctors to SK could be game changing.

We may have the best medical system in the world...but in this "emergency" it is not looking like it. That is not meant as a knock on the grunts on the front line working their butts off....

So, for now, I will continue my mantra, "Show me the bodies". I expect Trump is asking the same question when weighing the economic disaster we are facing versus an insignificant number of deaths. Yesterday 247 people in the US died of coronavirus. Last year we had 2,800,000 deaths (over 7600/day).

My kindergarten teacher cousin had H1N1 which put her in a coma and 3 weeks on a ventilator...

She is petite, athletic and zero vices...

Her recovery took a year and she will never be 100% and no memory after being rushed to the hospital.

The lingering effect is diminished lung capacity and overall reserved in personality.... She was 36 at the time and looking back at videos can hardly believe her previous bubbly personality...

Please for everybody's sanity stop repeating sensationalist nonsense from dubious sources.

That would cut this thread down to a slow dribble.

Oh bugger, you're right!

When you're retired, let alone "self-isolating", you do lose track of what day it actually is. :ashamed:

At least once a week I have to ask my wife what day it is. Most times I know what month it is. Unless we get a big weather swing. Then I may lose that too. I love my life!!!!

I watched a Cuomo news conference yesterday. I now see the Cuomo you know.

He's good though, you gotta give him that.....
