So far, the disagreements seem to be about why others (gov't) hire and fire, and all the facts that are being kept from us by the Chinese. (They're all dead, etc.)

I declare that this whole thread is far more about what we see and hear than about what's happening to each of us, not the wife of a coworker, not the 50 year chain-smoker that has COPD ayears after quitting. (ok that's me, but it's NOT you.)

Different opinions are just that. Problems arise when someone's is somehow superior when we all know better. (In before the lock.)

btw, Aaron, being a known middleist doesn't keep you out of OP's crosshairs 24/7. There will always be someone on your team that doesn't hear the signals.

I guess the question is why did you post this with no opinion either way, then take counter opinions to the first comments? My guess is you just enjoy stirring the pot, but don't want to take responsibility when the soup starts to taste bad and we have to throw it out. You enjoy conflict.

The question I have for you Moss is why the heck is this thread even allowed in Rural Living when you basically told us to take it elsewhere?
It has been proven time and time again that a lot of posters have blinders on and refuse to accept reality but would rather argue their beliefs.

unFriendly Politics is too rough for calm discussion and I had hoped the Front Porch would work, but it didn't so far.

This is a serious crisis and affects many. It would be nice to see a place where we could discuss what IS happening and it's affect on our tractor toys and use.
Diesel prices edge lower, pump handles may spread Covid-19.

A guy marches in the streets and carries a sign that says says "Death to the USA". Does this mean his whole country and government wants to poison us if they can? I'm not reading that all into an anti-American sign no matter who prints or posts it, or who parades it. (I remember "Viva Castro!", and "Cuba Si! Yanqui No!", they didn't hurt us too badly back then, either.) Once again, are we each putting our own take out as overriding all we've heard before?

You can't be that d__ sure of yourself before you do something, but darned if we don't know every what and why of everyone else. :confused2:

MI's 9th Covid 19 death was a guy in his 80s who had a stack of preexisting conditions. I guess you're next then because of all you don't know. Just finish your will and go to your room. :D (not locknut, btw)

Assuming adequate measures are taken on the front end, worst case scenarios will be prevented on the backend ...

Now is the time to act by taking oneself out of circulation ...

in line in supermarket, wished I had worn my mask, lady behind me kept moving closer, clueless about six feet. I came out of there feeling diseased no matter how much
I washed my hands...
some parts of supermarket looked worse, now cheese aisle looking skimpy, no hamburger as usual, just need to find alternatives.
They are clearly finding potatoes hard to stock, though plenty of onions.

I bought about ten pounds of wildflower seed mix at Lowes plus more fire ant killer. Rains today will make those ants pop up all over.
Did I feel guilty about going into an almost empty store and staying away from everyone, exiting in the outdoor section? No. Life has to go on
though we clearly have to be smarter about it.

friend sent me this, said we needed to be smart palm trees:

Thousands of years ago, on a gorgeous tropical island, all the trees were talking amongst themselves. A horrible, deadly storm was scheduled to pass through that night. The oak trees said, “We’re Mighty Oaks, we’re going to stand tall and strong. Nothing is going to mess with us!”
The palm trees said, “So this thing is just supposed to last a few hours? We’ll just lean over and let the storm come through.” Well, the storm came as scheduled and the following morning there wasn’t a single oak within 75 miles of this island. That same morning, every single palm tree yawned, rubbed its eyes, stood tall and looked around at all its beautiful palm tree neighbors.

We have to head out and do probate stuff at banks today. If we get near people or out of the car, we will be wearing N95 masks.

I had mine in my coat pocket and learned a lesson, put it on first...

I find it hard to believe, despite the official line, that wearing a tight fitting N95 mask won't help protect you from other sick people.
Yes, wash your face when you get home including your eyebrows, not sure what to do about head hair, taking a shower is a bit extreme.
But maybe if I were 83 and serious asthma, getting into the shower might help. That's why they say wash the backs of your hands too, stuff lands
on them also, not just what you touch or breathe. But if I can control what comes in my mouth and nose, and I don't rub my eyes or whatever, and then wash
when I get home, I'm going to feel confident I'll do just fine.

Folks who get too close to each other in line probably tailgate in their cars.

remember the dishwasher magnets saying Dirty and Clean on each side?
If we sprayed something on our hands that would react from clear to some alert color upon contact with xyz,
that would tell us right away if our hands were infected and we would head for the nearest sink to wash up.
Now we walk around wondering what did I touch?

If things did ramp up here in Eastern NC, then I'd start wearing my latex gloves. Got a box of 100 in last week from Amazon.
