Prediction:...I think we will start to see portable (and permanent) UV light chambers etc...(credit to TnAndy for first mentioning a good way to kill the virus in an earlier version :thumbsup for sale on Amazon etc...

it would be a simple way to assure any grocery packaging etc. or other large packaging are not contagious...especially when wiping is difficult...

The longer this goes on the more often many will need to buy groceries and food stuffs...

I find it interesting how each of these threads seems to have a finite shelf life before it gets shut down. The speed with which snide remarks and lightly abrasive comments quickly divulge into outright name calling can be astounding. It's kind of like how COVID-19 spreads and progresses.

This post isn't about anyone in particular starting something up, just a general observation.

Maybe, if we all collectively work towards a common goal of having civil discourse, even if we entirely disagree and think someone else is out of their mind, we can make some progress on sustaining a conversation that isn't ultimately shut down. You know, work together towards a common goal in spite of our differences. The thing we as a society could benefit from at this moment too.

Just a thought.

The Dr. can prescribe a drug that has been around for decades anytime he wants. Doesn't mean it is efficacious for Covid-19 but that is up to the Dr and the patient to decide if they want to risk it. Like the prez sez.. "what has a sick person got to lose" by trying this drug combo. It is not likely to hurt them, it may or may not help them. The French seemed to think it helped.

Thanks for covering that since it does not seem to be universally understood. The doctor the right to write the Rx. As far as I know the main gate keeper of what a Doctor writes Rx wise is the Pharmacist has the final say so if he or she will fill the Rx. Typically that is due to a conflict between other prescriptions the patient may be taking or some warning by the drug maker that the doctor not be aware of.

My wife over sees the nursing care for 60 nuns in the convent there average is in the 90s........ The healthy ones on the other side are sewing masks. So, yup I agree it is incompetence plain and simple. PPE is pretty basic. They can't find them. The government is sucking up what the private sector would normally supply.

What is the government doing with all that equipment they are sucking up?

I hope this is OK to post as I do not wish to close the thread.

I lost a tremendous amount of respect for the leaders of my church when this got serious. They were OK with exposing people to the virus...it was all about the $$$ and they used scripture to justify their actions. Just so sad. But church is not religion and religion is not God. The sheep will soon forget what happened, as their need to trust is greater than their common sense.

I have prayed God will give the leaders of my church wisdom, strength of character and strength of faith. They really need it right now. We are measured not be what we do when things are good, but what we do when things are going south.

BTW, I think the governor of NY did a good job.

I am disappointed that production has not been ordered for sorely needed masks? They are ESSENTIAL and cheap. It boggles the mind.

Our church has gone to online viewing for weekly services. The reality is you can send money via text, e-mail or mail it in. We still send a check weekly even though we aren't physically in church every week now.

Our internet is running as normal but we are closing all schools from tomorrow onwards, my work has been impacted and I have been told to stay home, without pay, they have engaged two juniors to take my place as they cost a lot less than me, I have retired but they still called me in a few times a month.
Our service prrovider has recently increased our internet speed to 75mbs so I don't think it will impact on netflix but with all the kids home it may.
The only thing open now is supermarkets, chemists, fuel outlets, butchers bakers, McDonalds etc can only do drive through or delivery, restaurants and casinos all closed along with pubs, retail stores closed and only doing mail order.
This all transpired over the weekend.

I saw an article where they are experimenting with a robot kind of thing, that goes into hospital rooms and turns on powerful UV light. Moves around like a rumba sp?

What is the government doing with all that equipment they are sucking up?

Asked myself the same question. My guess is there just is not enough and they are going to use in the hospitals and for the care givers protection. I pray they have a way to deploy the PPE to the areas that need it.
I know that there is a real concern and that are looking at plans to isolate EMT's and medical personnel from there families in case they get it. Using one college dorm as hospital and another as isolation for medical personnel.
