Has anybody noticed any change in internet speeds? Maybe slower due to more people at home streaming stuff?

Yes. Mine always slows down a bit on weekends. But more noticeable today.

I've seen it reported that Netflix has lowered video resolution levels in parts of Europe, to avoid gridlock.

Very cool . . .

Pretty f'n sad actually. Infectious disease specialists speaking on behalf of our health care system have been yacking for decades that this was coming and that the health care system is ready. What sort of readiness plan can be implemented if they completely forgot that proper amounts of PPE is infectious decease 101. I'm having a difficult time squaring that oversight with any level of intelligence.

Agree though that hats off to the retail sector for filling the void,

I'm impressed with Harbor Freight for doing this. I heard Apple is donating 2M masks as well. I want to support companies who put people before profits.

The problem with stockpiling supplies for an emergency which may never come is these supplies expire. The masks all have expiration dates. Too bad the government stockpiles the wrong stuff. I hear we have a ton of helium....we have 30% of the world's supply in the National Helium Reserve.

Don't understand why you were suspended from TBN for 5 days for saying that? :confused3: That incident (Hurricane Katrina) happened in 2005 so perhaps TBN's culture was stricter back then?
Hopefully. I'm not always Politically Correct, in step with the times. :)

Let's leave it at that, I respect the moderators I see today and don't want to PO Moss or ACZ or whoever else is out there in the shadows. :D

I agree, my beef isn't with the private sector, Harbour Freight has gone way above to fill the void left by the incompetence of others. Managing inventory of any product typically includes a turnover strategy. To be short of PPE so early in this situation is somewhat the opposite of what I would consider duly diligent.

Helium is kind of important:

Helium is used as a cooling medium for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and the superconducting magnets in MRI scanners and NMR spectrometers. It is also used to keep satellite instruments cool and was used to cool the liquid oxygen and hydrogen that powered the Apollo space vehicles.

Because it is very unreactive, helium is used to provide an inert protective atmosphere for making fibre optics and semiconductors, and for arc welding. Helium is also used to detect leaks, such as in car air-conditioning systems, and because it diffuses quickly it is used to inflate car airbags after impact.

A mixture of 80% helium and 20% oxygen is used as an artificial atmosphere for deep-sea divers and others working under pressurised conditions.

Helium-neon gas lasers are used to scan barcodes in supermarket checkouts. A new use for helium is a helium-ion microscope that gives better image resolution than a scanning electron microscope.

My wife over sees the nursing care for 60 nuns in the convent there average is in the 90s........ The healthy ones on the other side are sewing masks. So, yup I agree it is incompetence plain and simple. PPE is pretty basic. They can't find them. The government is sucking up what the private sector would normally supply.
