After moving to the "North Country" of New York (we are farther North than some parts of Canada) I asked my Dr. about testing for Vitamin D deficiency. His response was, "we don't bother testing, because EVERYONE up here is deficient. Take a daily supplement of 1,000 mg."General immunity - us Northerners's are typically Vitamin D deficient, esp. this time of year. Better half and I have been taking Vit D supplements recent Winters, and found it helpful. Again, watch daily dosage levels, as too much is harmful.
(Not just a Northerner thing though.... many of us don't spend much time in the sun today, and even if you do, IIRC our skin processes less Vit D from the sun as we age).
