It's too bad it takes headline grabbing sensationalism to wake people up...if just half the people that have already started preparing for an epidemic etc...would do so at the onset of a typical flu season...maybe over 61,000 people would not have died from it last season...That's just here in the US...

I think he's talking about all medicines in general. Like blood pressure, blood thinners, antibiotics, lipitore, viagara.... you know, the important stuff.

The effect has been noticeable close to home here in the SF Bay Area...

Business is down as much as 70% per the nightly news interviews at Chinatown eating establishments.

Not far from work is a Chinese Buffet that always does good business... very slow now... I asked the owner and he said business is very bad...

My friends in Hawaii said the Costco is doing a very brisk business...

Preparation is a topic at work... with lots of Asian nurses many said they have stocked up on rice stores for the home... plus canned and dry goods.

It has been a long time since I visited family overseas... the plan was Spring 2020 but doubt it will happen as I was going to take mom... she is a nurse and we talked about it and said as much as she would like to see everyone one more time... I might be awkward on both sides.

On the other hand there are real deals right now for those inclined.

Elective surgery is down some with cancellations mostly accounting for the drop at work.

I was going crazy thinking of my daughter going to Japan next week. She had this trip planned for a year and had the ticket.
She way past the age of me "telling" her what to do or not do.
So I offered he a proposal. I said I would buy her ticket so she would be out zero money fi she stayed home. I lated out my arguments why it's not the right time to go,
1 - Every picture she takes in Japan will be of people with masks.
2 - She will need to wear a mask for two weeks.
3 - No guarantee she can get back home if Trump shuts Japan out.
4 - All large gatherings are cancelled.

She actually said she'll think about it.

She came to me today and took me up on my offer.
