Welding Web Down?

Doesn't surprise me Dale; ever try to get ANYBODY from Amazon on the PHONE? I've managed that miraculous feat exactly ONCE, when their drones in "fulfillment" sent me ONE hose clamp for an order of TEN - in a "chat", I was told to forget about it, it's canceled - then I got an email stating that they were gonna "re-charge" my card if I didn't send the ONE clamp BACK (a 65 cent part) - eventually I found a way to get THEM to call ME - ( I STILL don't remember how I finally did it)

I explained that it'd cost THEM more to send the ONE clamp back than the clamp was worth, and finally they agreed and completely canceled the order. During that conversation I managed to get them to send ME an email stating same, which I saved.

I STILL haven't found a way to call THEM FIRST... Steve

Another comment on bedframe angle iron: A post (thread?) on WW said it is difficult to weld. Anybody know?

I hadn't seen that comment before making the forks pictured above. Maybe the welds could have been prettier but it seemed to me the project was ordinary welding.

The one time I welded it I used an AC machine and had no trouble.

I never had problems welding and have made many bases for all my power tools with bed angle.

Being near cottage country I have a good collection of bed angle. Handy stuff !
For fencing, sign posts etc it is as good as T bar.

When I find some I immediately remove the fittings just to make it easier to store.
LOL always have appropriate tools with me as most folks don't bother to dismantle when they put out for trash pickup.
But it is a race as the scrappers want that stuff to convert to cash.

I never found it hard to weld. But I did find it to stress crack or vibration crack easily.

I found this on HVAC-talk website. They had been down too.

"HTalk was sold to Endeavor along with dozens of other forums in the mechanical industry in December. All of these sites were pushed over to the new owners host except the VB sites such as us and Welding Web. Our database was on AWS still owned by our old owner Informa. A Informa tech thought all the sites were gone so he deleted HTalk and the AWS database. That unfortunate act is what caused all this.

I am not sure where they found a copy of the database but they did and it took a while to find it. My thoughts were that AWS had a backup and gave it to us. Anyway, our new owner may not have the ability to build a VB site on their host. They also thought it would be a good idea to upgrade. That's another unfortunate act... When the company VBulletin updated the database to the newest version a lot of things broke. We knew this would happen and did not want to upgrade, we told them but was out of our hands."

What a shame if it’s lost and dead forever. There were so many sa200’s and rountop Idealarc’s saved because of Duane and others. So much info and knowledge there I took for granted.
