I think you’re overlooking some things, there. Just looking at the largest 2R (2038R) vs the smallest 3R (3033R), here’s some numbers:

Front axle capacity:
2R = 1940 lb
3R = 3197 lb
diff = 65%

Rear axle capacity:
2R = 2400 lb
3R = 4079 lb
diff = 70%

Hydraulic pump:
2R = 9.3 GPM
3R = 15.3 GPM
diff = 65%

Wheelbase: same (good!)
Turning radius: 3R better by 5%’ish

Ship weight:
2R = 2436 lb.
3R = 2900 lb.
diff = 19%

Filled rear tires (turf):
2R = +470 lb.
3R = +684 lb.
diff = 45%

Loader lift cap@59”:
2R = 1296 lb.
3R = 2125 lb.
diff = 64%

Bucket curl time:
2R = 4.76 sec
3R = 2.96 sec (that’s where the big GPM pump helps)
diff = 61%

There is no doubt the 3R is a much more capable machine, if that’s the requirement. That’s not to say the 2R is bad, I liked the ergonomics of that machine better in many ways, but there is really no comparison on weights and capacities.

As to the 1R vs 2R, it depends on which 2-series you’re considering. That is screwy, since they have the “little 2” and then the “big 2’s”. I’m not even sure why they called the 2025 a 2-series, it has nothing in common with the 2032R or 2038R, but I guess they needed some way to distinguish it from the 1025. The 2032R and the 1-series tractors are substantially different, tho.

If Nard's theory was correct it would imply the 1R and 3R are the same tractor. By your specs listed above the 3R's FEL will lift a 1R.

There will also be a huge difference in traction between the small garden sized tires on the 1R and any larger frame tractor.

Is this correct? Since the 2025R is substantially different is it made in Japan or somewhere else? What about the 3000 series? Just curious as I have no problem with made in Japan.

Well, aren't all Deere CUT engines still manufactured by Yanmar, Japan? And about your Kawasaki Mule?

According to tractordata.com, the 3033R, 2038R, 2025R and 1025R are all made in Augusta. But that's likely from parts sourced from all over the world, including engines from Japan.

I'd be concerned if JD started using someone else's engine. The Yanmar engines are excellent!!!

I don't know? I was just wondering if Deere was making the entire 2000 series in the US (as I may have mistakenly recalled in their video) or assembling them here from local and imported components? And 3000 series as well?

Actually my Kawasaki Mule's 695cc single cylinder engine is manufactured by Kymco in Taiwan, the 3-cylinder motor in the larger Mule FX is manufactured in China by Chery.

As I mentioned it makes no difference to me I was just curious. If anything, being manufactured in Asia would probably be higher quality (unfortunately). On my L2501 the frame/engine/transmission all dark gray parts are made and assembled as a unit in Japan then shipped to Georgia where the orange metal (bodywork and loader) are assembled on it.

The rest comes from many different sources, a lot of which is overseas. For example I always notice the loader hydraulic quick connects say Italy on them. They are then assembled in the US. How much is done in the US I don’t know. Do they just put it together? Do they do a lot of the welding here?

Hah... I need to stop reading so quickly. I read your post as “I have a problem with made in Japan.”

The funny thing is, when I was researching CUT’s prior to the purchase of my 855, I kept reading comments from people who liked the Yanmar Deere’s better than the Deere Deere’s that preceded or were contemporary to the Yanmars.

I do have to admit, that little 855 is one nicely designed tractor, for it’s time. Even my Deere dealer recently commented to that, when I was discussing selling it with them, after buying the 3033R.

Yeah for what its worth the engines are yanmar my buddies brand new 1025 actually had made in china stamped on a bunch of parts.
