They are all expensive junks, One guy buys Ford's, the next guy buys Chevy's and the next guy buys Dodges, by the time each one of the three guys takes a dirt nap, they will have owned all three because they are all junks..

Lol my guess is you can’t afford a new truck as you couldn’t be more wrong in that statement. Trucks now from all manufactures are actually WAY better than years past. It’s not even comparable. The big problems that were happening in 08 and 09 were more emissions related than anything else as all manufacturers had to meet new diesel emissions criteria that had never been accomplished before. As for other stuff I can still remember all my 90’s and early 2000 trucks with all the squeaks and rattles (drove me crazy), flexing frames, windows not rolling up, radios stopped working, paint falling off from bad primers in 91-93, HVAC vent door issues, rough riding, poor power, weak and failing auto transmissions, way less towing and braking ability, no tow haul mode, no engine braking, no camera systems and on and on and on. So yes your totally wrong in that statement. Trucks today have way less issues overall but have 20 times more gadgets on them. I think they are way more complicated to work on because of all the electronics and complicated emissions equipment but there is no question they are by far superior in every way. The last 3 trucks I’ve purchased since 2001 continually get better each time around. My new and first GMC is built like a tank and tows like a beast. I’m sure the new Rams and Fords are the same.

Better now? Maybe. How are they going to be in 20 years from now? Almost certainly scrap because they cost too much to fix.

Ya got it all union folks are lazy.Really?I was a electric lineman(UNION) that kept your power on 24-7 in Michigan for 39 years before I retired. The electric fairy comes in the middle of the night, day, ice storm, thunderstorms and waves his magical wand then the lights come back on all by themselves.Lazy union BASTURDS..I get it now,Some folks have NO CLUE..
I LOVE to tell this story...

When I was putting a new 200 amp service into my shop, the power company FINALLY came out to hook it up. (literally turn it on) Anyway, everything was ready to turn it on and EVERYONE was standing around, except one guy. He was asleep in the cab of one of the trucks! lol

Anyway, I asked what's the hold up, and I was told they were waiting for the person to show up and tighten down the Allen heads, (the cable was already under the lugs) to secure the wire in the meter loop. At this point, I offered to let them use MY wrench, I offered to tighten them up for them ect....BUT, I was told it was a "union thing" and they had to wait for the person, who's job it was to do that!!

After more than an hour of standing around, a short gal shows up with a wrench and tightens up the Allen heads, then says to the very guy I had talked to, "here, check them"!!! He then took the wrench and finished tightening them!!!!

Only then did they go to the pole and switch the power on!!! How's that for spending the money from OUR electrical bill???? Did I say "spending?", I should have said WASTEING!!!

OOOOOH, the guy in the truck, we happen to know his wife, and she bragged her lineman husband made 39 bucks an hour!!!

You want to talk about the UAW??? I was in the UAW for a few years, I also have toured auto mfg. plants! I saw a guy stretched out on a piece of cardboard along the line, sound asleep!!! lol

I worked where they made ford dash panels, anyone here ever own a mustang that had a dash that rattled??? I can tell you why it rattled!!

I have a 2007 GMC 3/4 4x4 that I bought new. I tow with it most ever day. It has 160,000 miles on it and still has the original brakes pads and rotors. They pads still look good with no groves in the rotors. I have been well pleased with the truck.

One of my trailers.

So I gotta ask do you ever stop? Lol. Just kidding but that’s a lot of miles for sure. My father in law owns a big commercial construction company and bought all Ford work trucks (mostly F150’s) till 2010. He complained of so many brake issues thus went to GMC. We argued over which truck was best from 2010-2018 until I bought my first GMC in late 18. Lol

Sounds like Dodge, Ford, and Chevy are now Harbor Freight brands. Sometimes very good, sometimes very bad. You won't know until you buy and use it.

If Toyota made a real dually with a hood I’d probably buy one.

Well they gotta know how to do it first but there lies the problem. They are very good at making quality “light” weight vehicles but totally don’t get the HD trucks. But if they do ever figure it out and make the investment I’m sure it would be a great product. I’m still surprised they have such a small share of the 1/2 ton market. The big 3 must be doing something right to control that segment like they do.

While I agree with you coobie, I agree with him.

He was talking about UAW udiots in Detroit. I have first hand experience with them. I do not support anything they do.

I also have fist hand experience with ibew. I am not currently a member, got promoted to management. But. I support them, they have turds and good people like any union. I think they have more good ones though.

A union is to keep a group of skilled workers from being taken advantage of (ibew). It is not meant to keep ditch diggers living next to doctors(uaw).

As for the lineman asleep in his crew truck, there are alot of factors. He could have just worked 18hrs with 6 off, could have worked 5-16s with 8 hrs off between, etc. Benefit of the doubt. Alot of trades are still honest.

Yep, I'm going back to Datsun trucks. Anyone know where I can find a clean one?

There you have it.I worked many 20 hour days on with 4 hours sleep off.Our only chance to catch some sleep was between jobs while my journeyman drove the truck.I always love the I GOT this story BS.And yes there are lazy union folks just like any other trades or jobs it seems folks always want to jab the union. If the truth be told they might be somewhat jealous union jobs pay more.God only knows the CEO,s running some of these companies into the ground making Millions of $$ are hard at work.LOL

"I'll never buy another Chevy"....

Well, best of luck finding anything to drive....because they all make crap vehicles. Paint peeled off my previous new Ford truck within the 3 year warranty period. Went to dealer, they said "Yeah....we consider the miles on it, and with what we charge for a paint job, you'd be better off to go to a paint/body shop and get it done".....which I did, and the paint stayed on the truck for the next 10 years with no problem.

U joints went out around 50k miles. They have no grease fittings, sealed for "life", which apparently is 50k miles. NON OEM replacements had grease fittings, still on the truck when I sold it years later.

Switched to Chevy, 2003 Silverado 2500HD. Differential cover RUSTED OUT in 5 years....leaked out the lube, ruined the rear end. WHO ever heard of a rusted out differential cover ???? Metal was clearly stamped from used crap steel. You could stick a screwdriver in it and peel large flakes of metal off. Very rarely do they salt the roads here.

Neighbor is a big Dodge truck fan. All kinds of front end issues with ball joints, brakes, etc.

So tell me.....WHO makes a good solid truck that will last 10-15 years like it should ??

Disc brakes are easier to replace. I have the tools to do drums and they are really pretty cheap to buy. My problem I do not work on them very often. Disc brakes also cool better under hard use.

You guess I can't afford a truck? you don't have a clue..

Go buy a new truck and drive it for 10 years, let us know how all the electronics are treating you in that time frame.. I have bought without putting to much thought into it probably 15 new trucks, all different kinds, some better than others but as a whole they are all junks..

By the way while you're "guessing" who can afford what, you might want to space you're posts out so people can read them not that they are of any use..

Two 2007 Toyota Tundra’s have hit a million miles, both motors being built in Toyota’s San Antonio, TX plant. However, most don’t consider the Tundra a true work truck. Toyota is very conservative in making “improvements” to their vehicles, lagging behind the big three in features and only offering a simple N/A V8 rather than complex direct injected turbo models. Hopefully, Toyota doesn’t go the DI turbo route with their 2021 redesigns and they keep a simple N/A V8 offering in the Tundra.

Personally, all I want is a simple V8 in a chassis that will last a long time. My next truck will either be a Tundra or a Ford Super Duty with the new pushrod, forged crank, N/A, 7.3L gas motor.

NO problem, go home and sleep!! Don't make me pay 39 bucks an hour for you to sleep!!

BTW, I was in the ibew for a few years too, we were building steel towers across the state. The boss sat in the truck with the motor running (winter) while we worked.

And, what about the wasted hour and a half, waiting for a gal to show up to tighten 3 lugs?? THEN having someone else tighten them??

There were two truck loads of guys standing around that day... How much is that @ $39 per hr.?

I never complain when my power bills come in because my father was a troubleman for 45 years.. Not an easy job all the time like some people think..

Any new vehicle I buy these days is in my driveway for no more than 5 years, I feel bad for the people that have to buy them after I'm done with them, just a ticking time bomb is all they are..

Power windows, electronic everything out the heat and cold, road salt, nothing good, they don't have a chance..

It's true. People that can't afford a new vehicle sure as sheit won't be ablt to afford a used one. Since there won't be a market for vehicles more than a few years old, it has to reflect in the initial cost of ownership.
