I currently have an electric tree trimmer on a twenty foot extension pole. Is there a way to add a 15 amp electrical outlet to a tractor? Saw a commercial on tv that advertises electrical outlet on new Chevy pickup trucks.

You'd need an inverter that would provide enough power and that could lead to electrical issues on the tractor since they're not intended for that.

Battery or two stroke pole saws would be better options.

PTO generator would do it, but not cheap. I can't see getting 15A without a generator of some sort, whether driven by the tractor or separate.

The 120V AC outlet on my GMC is limited to 1.25A, not enough to do much.

15 amps at 120 volts would be 1800 watts; here is a 1500 watt continuous Aims PWRI1512S 15 Watt 12V Pure Sine | Inverters R Us

To produce that 1500 watts will require about 125 amps at 12 vdc, depending on your tractors battery and alternator capacity would determine the run time you would have.
With a nominal 70amp alternator you would need to be up around 2/3s operating speed for 2-3 minutes for every minute you used at full power.

my dad pulls a lil trailer around with him and a generator in it for the pole saw

Portable generator, generator/alternator and battery system on most tractors don't have power to run high amperage inverter/power tools....

When I first saw that feature on TV commercial my thought was "another useless sales gimmick"....

And don't you love the added sound effects - the giant 'thunk' sound when the overhead lights are turned on.

Most commercials make me want to vomit. Genny in the bucket, go for it. Personally have a battery pole saw, but not 20 ft.

thats why i went with Stihl gas pole saw...didnt want to mess with 120v power out in the woods. I had a GOOD, high end inverter in my work van to power microwave and battery charger units. Unit cost almost as much as a generator would have. It replaced the harbor freight unit i initially put in that caught fire and nearly burnt my work van down. You get what you pay for. The incoming amperage is huge on a 12 volt inverter. I had to use 3/0 copper cabling to battery

I have played with 12v to 120v inverters over the years, once on a tractor. IMHO it's better, and simpler to just get a 2kw inverter generator and haul it around. I use a small 1.8kw Yamaha inverter generator or a slightly larger Yamaha 3.5kw for larger tools / needs.
If you decide to try adding a large 12v to 120v inverter to your tractor be sure to read up on fuse and cable requirements. The load on your alternator and battery will be significant.

Yea not sure how one could handle a 20 footer..?

Get a pto generator on a trailer.
This is the only Genny in a bucket you want:

I RIGED A 1200 WATT INVERTER (MADE IN CHINA) WITH A LARGE BOAT BATTERY AND A REMINGTON 120 VOLT POLE SAW($100.00) AND IT STAYED CHARGED ALL DAY AND WORKED GREATE. I CUT EVERYTHING ON THE GROUNG WITH A GAS CHAIN SAW. MOST TRACTOR ALTERNATERS ARE SLOW CHARGING BUT MAY STILL WORK OUT. MAYBE CHANGE TO A 60 OR 100 AMP ALTERNATOR.

I have a variety of tools that I need all over the place that require 110 volts, so I bought a small Honda Generator that starts every time, it's quiet and runs all day on a tank of gas. I bought it about 5 years ago and probably use it half a dozen times a year. When we lose power, it will run the lights and TV. When I'm building something, it will run my small air compressor. When we have parties down at my pond, it powers the fans, music and phone chargers.

Love my little honda generator. Last power outage, didnt bother with the big gen, honda took care of lights and tv.

Inverters are costly and inefficient and they weigh a ton (full of copper). A generator would be a good choice if you would use the generator for other work. If you only need power for the pole saw, go gas power and save a lot of money. Pull the starter and begin cutting....

They are great for charging up laptops and cordless tool batteries.
