Titan pallet fork cage

We just bought one a couple of weeks ago, but haven't used it yet, it looks like it will be fine. We have a big home built one he used on his house, but it is really heavy and I just don't trust it.

I have had one for a couple years. It is on my forks more than its off. Working on house triming limbs etc. Fortunately my wife is comfortable running the tractor. With the loader all the way up plus my height and pole saw, I can limb 25 + feet.

I know I just got a ballast box from Titan. I ordered it July 3rd at about 8:45pm. In about an hour and 10 minutes it shows as being picked up. I'm probably 2.5 hours away from their facility. It makes it on to the nightly truck run to Sikeston from the Memphis area and is in Sikeston that morning on the 4th. Fedex delivered it on the 5th. I was just blown away it got here that quick.

Around here IBC totes go for $100 or so. I picked up 8 for $15 each that had 1" of paint left in the bottom. I've converted several to scrap bins, firewood storage & hauling.

I need to make a man lift. But for now I just strap a pallet to the top of an IBC tote. It gives me an extra 4' over the pallet forks height. I just use it as a mobile scaffold & dont lift anybody with it. I dont trust anybody to run my tractor with me on it & I'm not sure I trust myself with somebody else life. I just climb up on an extension ladder. The tote is usually touching or an inch away from my what I'm working on. That way if there is a hydraulic failure the loader impacts what im working on as it arcs forward. Sucky falling a few feet, but better than falling a dozen feet.

I happen to be using mine today to nail off sheathing on a new shed. Only about 4 ft off the ground but it helps a lot. Safer and easier than working off a ladder, and a lot less work than setting up scaffolds and moving them around.

Photo 1, I attached a 4x4 to one end partly as a bumper to keep from scratching siding and partly to lean a ladder against for getting into the cage.

Photo 2, buckets hold extra nails, other tools, etc.

Photo 3, the backhoe stabilizers easily keep the cage square to the building.

I don't remember what I paid but not much. It gets a lot of use.

I've got one of those. Not bad, but I did some slight changes. The aluminum carabiners that attach the front safety chains to the sides are flimsy, replaced them with steel ones. Also added an extra chain set to the back of the platform, up high, to get two chains around the back of your pallet fork.

I like the IBC tote idea. That's one of those simple ideas that went over my head. I just messaged a local place over a mile away who advertises them on FB Marketplace for 80$ I have no need for the container as I have a 35 gallon water container that I never use. He just messaged back and said 10$ for just the cage...I'll be by next week to pick one up. :)
