Pricing pallet forks

If you were dropped here you'd swear you were in CO. Which makes sense, as the Rockies don't abruptly stop at the state line.

Anyway, I don't mind that most drives are a minimum of 150 miles round trip. The roads are curvy and fun, plus it gets the oil up to proper temps.

I agree with the concept of buying higher capacity forks if you intend to misuse them. But i would also be dubious of the claimed rating on the Titan forks.. Id just be looking at fork dimensions and pounds of weight. If they are using a thicker/wider fork to get to 4000lbs vs somebody elses 2000, then id buy it or at least be optimistic they could be rated over 2000. But if they just ‘say’ 4000 and you cant find the difference in measurements or weight, i would just choose to be skeptical of the claim. Obviously i havent looked to see if that info is available.

Also if we’re talking a massey GC 17 something or other youre not bending any forks anyway unless you manage to get one single tip 4-8” (you definitey wont bend it any further up than that..) into something that wont move and start bouncing the whole tractor’s weight off it. If you got both tips into something i really dont think you could bend them with that size tractor.

Yes, this is good stuff Vigo, thx! True, I am worried about sticking a fork under something, and then the tractor weight pushing it down and...quack quack, something gets bent out of shape.

Some stats I gathered, the contenders, all 42" forks:

• Titan: rated 4k lbs, weighs 318 lbs.
• Express Steel: rated 4k lbs, weights 315 lbs
• Tomahawk: rated 2.8k lbs, weighs 305 lbs
• ProWorks: rated 2.2k lbs, weighs 242 lbs

Pricing with shipping: $733 - $830. Titan is the cheapest, and the only import on the list. Tomahawk is the priciest.

A plus for Titan is that it has a hitch receiver built in, that's kinda nice.
Express Steel has the most obstructive headache rack out of all of them, I would prefer to see through it easier.
ProWorks is the least known name on the list. A company called Skid Steer Attachment Depot builds them. I can't find any reviews on their forks though, which bugs me.

Anyways, my aim here is to minimize the weight of the forks so as to maximize the lift capacity of my tractor (I think it's around 800 lbs).
BUT at the same time, minimize the risk of damaging the forks, being that I sometimes do stupid stuff with this tractor.

So guys, please help me decide between these four.

Get the stronger and cheaper ones, then fiddle with the pressure relief?

Some of youz are lucky to have that nearby. For me, even Tomahawk in Indiana, that's close to a 6 hr round trip.

Your second guess is correct.

Thankfully a friend of mine moved to the area years ago, and after visiting him a couple of times I realized that this is a great place. No way I would've stumbled across the area otherwise.

Didn't think I would be able to deal with the winters, but quickly found out that my aching joints feel better here when it's 20 degrees than they did in SoCal at 65 degrees.

Gotta love low humidity.

A beautiful area but it is a long ways for shopping trips. Some of the biggest mule deer I’ve ever seen were around the Brazos cliffs near you.
