No, you pull the ring back towards the driveshaft and at the same time pushing the whole drive shaft towards the tractor and on the the PTO stub shaft. That is what makes things a little difficult. Pulling the ring back in one direction while pushing the drive shaft in the opposite direction.When you say hold the ring back. The only movement at the ring from its normal position was towards the tractor. Do I push the ring forward towards the tractor then push the pto assembly onto the tractor spline cheers John N
:thumbsup:One thing that hasn't been mentioned when you 'pull' the ring back is to use both hands... (after lubing both the PTO shaft & the coupling with a lanolin lubricant) I cradle the coupling in the palm of my hands, then 'pinch' the ring back between thumb a fingers...
Once I've got it sliding onto the shaft, I can release the ring either before or after I've advanced it regarding the PTO groove. You can hear & feel it lock into the groove.
