Finally broke ground on my shop last week. Weather has been good, and looks to stay good into next week, so hopefully they can get it knocked out by Thanksgiving.

Ovrszd hauled a LOT of fill after the wife decided that she wanted to move the shop farther south than originally planned. I can't remember now how many scraper loads it was, but it was a BUNCH. I was the resident packer. Luckily, it had all summer to settle, and it ended up looking great when they did start on the shop.

Rebar and foam in yesterday. Should get the floor heat ran today, and hopefully pour concrete on Thursday.

That's a lot of rebar!!!!! How far apart is each stick? Will you be adding chairs before your pour? I never trust a contractor that tells me that they can pick it up while spreading the concrete and that it will stay there while they walk on it. In every case, the rebar ends up at the bottom of the concrete and you no longer gain any strength from it.

Concrete chairs are the only way to ensure that the rebar remains in the middle, or lower 1/3 of the concrete.

I didn't measure it, but I would say they are 1-1.5' apart. We haven't discussed chairs, but I have seen one of his pours that was similar to this, and it had chairs. I don't recall exactly how it was done, but he added them when he was wiring the pipe to the rebar.

Very nice foundation work !! Is this going to be a 'stick' built building ? Look forward to your progress.....

It is going to be a stick built building. Spray foam insulation on the walls, and blow in insulation in the ceiling. It will have a metal panel ceiling, and we are still working on what the walls will be. Builder wants to do metal panel walls, and we want OSB walls. I think it will help absorb the noise. Builder is super particular about his buildings and hates the look of OSB. So far we have "maybe" decided on plywood stood on end so that it was 8ft high, and then metal liner from there on up.

Guess it depends what you are going to use the shop for. I would go with the OSB and metal on top as you 'maybe' want to do. I would be afraid I would bang and dent the metal wall panels. OSB would take more abuse. I think you can get the OSB in 10' lengths.

I used to hate Obnoxious Soft Board, once damp it swelled up, flaked off and was useless. Then I found Advantech.
What are your choices for plywood? That could look nice.

Looks to be close to 40 yds if you are going 5 inches thick !!! I always form up a extra area for leftover concrete. Just something you might need to put outside things on. Always a fun time when the trucks show up !!!
Form up a couple of ballast blocks for the tractor.
