What's the latest SPAM game?

We don't get nearly as much spam on the board I moderate on and it is similar in size. I'm not sure what we do that this site doesn't do but if we had as much as is being reported here we would go to war. I do notice that this site is showing 7,000 visitors right now which seems high. Our site only shows 1,000 guests. Member participation is similar and we have more threads and 50% more posts. We have about 20 new members per day. I'm not sure about this site. We use zenforo. I'm not sure about this site. @muhammad ?

Xenforo is far superior at spam prevention than vbulletin. In time we might make the switch as we already have on a couple other sites.

That explains it then. Is it just that the actions we take are more effective and preventing reoccurrence or is it that we never see a lot of the spam attempts?

Maybe they put a URL in their About Me? That would make their URL known to Google search, to improve their rank there.

You and jeff look to be having the most 'fun' reporting them. I just get to sweep up the leftovers and I'll probably be more into the game once you lot "Fall back" and I "Spring forward"= a 16 hour difference.

We greatly appreciate the help with reporting posts. Obviously we don't want to have any spam on the forum and our ultimate solution should help reduce the abuse significantly. In the mean time, today I'll be going back to our alternate user approval queue which has worked well in the past, albeit at the cost of additional admin tasks.
