We feed them, we put out minerals for them, we plant food plots for them. We prefer to keep them healthy.

Why is that a perceived problem?

Rick, Sun City is looking for a place to transplant deer. If you can get it approved through the TPW in your area I'll work on this side. I'm thinking the TPW would consider that doing so would create an imbalance but we can always ask. Right now is trap, kill give meat to charity.

Whole corn is not easily digested by the deer, you should used cracked corn, is what I'm reading. Now field corn on the stalk is probably not as hard and can be chewed by the deer, but the dry whole corns should be fed to animals that have the teeth to crush the hard kernels, like cows.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 3:45AM. Sunny. High near 90F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Glad you weren't hurt when that blade let loose, David. Kyle taught me that you'll need a large diameter, short, air hose and couplings to deliver the full potential of an impact wrench. I think I ended up with a 1/2" ID hose and couplings 25' long, and it made all the difference.

Last set of tires I ended up with were Green Ball, which got good reviews, but I think even they were made in China. Had Iron Man (Chinese) tires on the F250 when I bought it and the sidewalls bulged, and an Iron Man tire blew out on a rental trailer once when I was bringing the Kubota RTV home. Getting harder and harder to find US made trailer tires.

Finished installation of the saddle bag and exhaust system on the old BMW yesterday; took much longer than I anticipated but it all worked out.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Goodyear Endurance trailer tires are made in USA

IMHO they are wild animals that can fend for themselves. They have done quite well in my area over the years. No food plots needed.

I agree 110%! When I moved up here from the big city, my auto insurance rates went up when I thought they'd be going down. The insurance company's excuse was a higher rate of deer strikes on cars, and more drunk drivers. I regularly have to wait for deer to finish crossing the driveway on the way out, and the small road that leads to the state route, too. And almost every week on the way into town I pass at least one road killed deer, usually more. I've hit two and killed one on my motorcycles, killed another one with my Toyota pickup truck, and had too many close calls to count. If it wasn't illegal, I'd shoot every one that came onto my property.:censored:

We had way more deer in our area than should be supported. Everyday there was a car crash on main road out of town. Biggest problem was the Metropolitan Park 2 miles east of my place. They had several herds in park as large as 50. About 20 years ago they started culling the herds with bow and arrow hunting. Donating the meat to poverty kitchens in Detroit. Today on a drive into town it is rare to not see at least 1 deer. Growing a garden is nearly impossible without fencing. Tells me there are still too many deer for the area.
We had vegetable gardens until the middle 80’s with little to no problems from deer.

Looks to be a reasonable move.

We (many neighbors and I) work with TPW year round. We’ve already completed our night time deer counts and will be issuing doe permits as needed, via our local Wildlife Management Association. We were awarded the Lone Star Land Steward Award a few years ago.

We were blessed with 1 1/4” of rain yesterday afternoon. For reference, our total rainfall here, in July and August, was 7/8”.

The hummingbirds are coming, to the feeder, more frequently every day. There are two “regulars” that do more fighting than drinking.
.............................
We sure could use some rain down here...hint..hint. ;)
Humming birds getting ready for the long flight across the border soon.

Deer are fed here to keep them in the area they hunt, not to supplement their diet, they are vastly overpopulated here. Two have been killed on the road in front of my property in the last few weeks, about 4 a year on average.

My mechanic called my S10 the deer slayer. It got more deer in one trip down the road one morning than I took with my rifle.

Tonight I can probably call the horses up and some deer will come up with them until they see me.

Reading this makes me happy we did concrete drive.

We did asphalt almost 10 years ago, it needs sealing again. It was much cheaper than concrete and is easy on taxes (considered temp) than concrete (considered permanent).

   / Good morning!!!! #81,315
I just cannot understand the over population of deer since that's such good meat. I grew up in the days and area when and where deer were seldom, if ever, seen.

   / Good morning!!!! #81,316
We have very few deer nowadays on our place. I don't feed them. Nor do I hunt them. We used to have 5-10 that would roam on by.

I've been on TBN since 2001...and I'm OK with the rules.

TBN was great without FP. It was all about Rural Living for me.

Whipper passed her first day of day care. She even got a star for getting along good with others, which I thought she would surely fail. So now when we go on vacation or have an emergency for a few days we can board her without worrying about a thunderstorm coming and her running 7 miles down the road. Too much traffic on the roads in this county.

On the way to Whippers day care I noticed something spinning in the road, and then it stopped. I looked past the spinning object and saw two cars smashed and smoking. Got on the phone to get help on the way and then a quick check of the occupants. 5 adults in all. All airbags and side bags were deployed in each vehicle and it looked like no serious injuries besides the regular bruising and blood. Sure is nice to have all emergency personnel on the scene in 5 minutes. The smoke was just steam from a radiator so no premature moving of the occupants was necessary.
