didn't buy the Honda mower. New handle paddles like car paddle shifters require constant pressing, deal killer with my hands and arms.
So I got the same engine in an awd Husqvarna, ordered yesterday on Amazon, already confirmed will show up tomorrow Friday. Two days.
Biggest issue for me was weight; this mower is 80 pounds, much lighter than most of self propelled competition. Would have spent another hundred bucks for the Honda but not with those hand controls. For most they are probably fine.

I learned about weight the hard way. Bought a Ariens walk behind mower with Kawasaki engine about five years ago.
Probably the most heavy duty small mower one can buy.
And horribly heavy, a real tank to use. Worse, the drive belt is not protected underneath and sticks can knock it off.
Sitting under a tarp in the shed for two years. Been to warranty shop and fix did not hold.
Should fix it and sell it. Kawasaki single cylinder pressure lube/oil filter engines
are seriously nice, I think meant to compete with Honda GX engines; too bad this was wasted on a poorly designed mower.

I have a 1970's Snapper mower. With B&S engine. Great mower without any switches, paddles or other controls. But I have not got it out of the barn in 30 years. I did check to see if it still had oil in it recently. May be a good project to get running when my arm gets repaired.

Good morning! Rain, we had rain, enough to activate the rain sensor on the automatic sprinkler system and skip the Thursday night scheduled watering.

Morning all. Running behind this AM. Thought I would change the routine up. 71 outside this AM. Heading to the lower 90's today. Pretty thick air in place. Nice and foggy so I got lost in the back forty.

Mostly the S10 suffered what I thought was total damage. The insurance company said otherwise. A few months after it was fixed of course I hit two more deer. At the same time. Back to the shop it went.
Eric get the eye checked by a ophthalmologist. Shadows and streaking are something to be taken seriously.

Any chance the seed for those sweet potatoes was exposed to high radiation on it's way to you, Drew?:shocked:

The replacement fender mounted on the old BMW without a hitch yesterday, and when I went to move the tail light over from the old one I found a fancy circuit board studded with LEDs instead of a fragile tail light bulb. Vibration limits bulb life on these bikes to less than a year of regular riding, so an LED is a nice upgrade. They're a LOT brighter than a bulb, and are set up to flash when the brake is initially applied for added safety, too. As expected, though, the turn signal pods would hit the saddle bags if mounted at the old location, but I was able to cobble together a Z shaped bracket from some scrap stainless steel that will work fine to move them farther back. I know I have some LED bulbs left over from the Vanagon project that would be perfect in the turn signals, but darned if I can find the box they're in.:confused2:

Headed south this morning for a camp out with the Airheads in the mountains southeast of Fresno. Hopefully high enough to be above the smog and smoke of the Central Valley, and cooler, too. My buddy John is bringing two kegs of his home brew...:licking:

No cell service at the campsite, so it'll probably be a while before you guys hear from me again. Not that you'll miss me or anything.:laughing:

Eye is less swollen today, I feel better and my lesions are a little less ugly. The nerve endings are very sensitive in that area. I’m going to try and get some work done today. 81, headed for 90s again. Cooling off after today for a short period, before warming back to mid summer level next week.

68°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 85° today with rain expected this afternoon. Remnants of the tropical storm/depression are supposed to reach us by Friday and Saturday, with some heavy rain predicted for Saturday.

Seven pages of chat here to get caught up on at some point today. Took off Tuesday and Wednesday to have a five day holiday weekend. The Wife and I had been planning for some time to build a deck on the new sunroom, so we dove into that this past weekend. If I've learned anything from this experience, it's that I am not a deck builder, and will never do this again. Far better to pay someone who knows what they are doing. Experience in these things cannot be over-appreciated.

On the bright side, though, I noticed this morning that I've sweat out five pounds in the last five days. So, I got that going for me. :laughing:

Showered and in for afternoon, 94 out, painted mailbox post plus a few other wooden fence posts, mowed a little, then powerwashed the mower which really needed it, kinda went aahhhh when I put it back under the shed all shiny and clean
