Got about 2 hours of good bushhogging done. Forced
to take a break

IMG_0881.JPG

Anyone else ever break one of these blades? New shear bolt before I started and it didn’t break. Sadly, I don’t even know what I hit. Possibly metal fatigue at the mount point. An original blade, about 13 yo. I have a spare set, same age but never used.

Does anyone have a computer that locks up about once a month or more. Mine does and all I have found that works is to cut it off and then turn it back on. Of course I loose everything I was doing most of the time. Ed
Yes, on an old operating system, Windows XP. Never found out the exact culprit so that I could remedy it. Maybe bad memory? Something not seated well into the mother board? Go to computer management and look at the history and see if you can determine something causing it.

Just did both, no lesions on the eye thankfully. On anti virals now.

Glad to hear you got an appointment. Hope it gets better soon.

Did you get the key into the slot, so that the bolt could go all the way up? I've never seen that either. WOW, where did the broken piece go?

Trying to find a cheaper alternative to hydraulic cylinder rebuild kits than Deere offers..... Don't really want to rebuild them myself, but maybe at work one weekend...

Good evening all. 75F for the start, solid overcast, calm wind. Moderate wind with occasional serious gust, partial clearing midday, and a high temp of 89F. Rain not very likley until late Thursday night, then over the weekend. Bike ride to start the morning, trip to step daughters, trip up on the roof to clean out dryer vent, clean gutter tops. Then leaf pick up on the front porch. To finish walk the dog (dog sitting has resumed).
Randy good news, little surprised the doc didn'y start anti-virals as soon as the diagnosis was made. The sooner you start them the more effective they are.
David never broke a bush hog blade, would be interesting to see the broken edge. I would guess material fault allowed crack to start, then would not take near as much to finish it off.
RNG sounds like an interesting day at the BBQ.:licking:
Drew good luck with your mower project.
Buckeye glad to hear your cookout went well, nice to hear you wern't involved in an accident.
prayers for all.

I’ve never broke a blade , and I have run over concrete blocks, bricks, and a truck rim once. Made a lot of noise....

60 right now...high about 90 today....ugh!

I didn’t take time to look for the rest of the blade just assume it’s where I stopped.
Break is pretty clean right at the bolt. I would blame abuse more than material fault.
As able to drop the pan assembly without too much effort, but I’ll be doggone if I’ve been able to free up the blade bolts. Of course my largest impact socket is 1 1/4, next regular socket is 1 1/2 and naturally the nut is 1 5/16. Just can’t seem to budge it with a box wrench even though the threads are clean, flooded with PB Blaster, liquid Wrench, heated... guess I’m just going to have to cut off. New bolts and nuts would be in order and I hope I can find some in town tomorrow else I’ll have to order. Likely will pick up appropriate impact socket too. Last time I had to special order Rhino wheel fork, hopefully the Kubota dealer or someone will have a suitable 7/8” alternative, seems a number of manufacturers use a keyed bolt.

Good morning all, 70 going to 88 with am fog. Hope to tinker with the lathe today. Worked on my quick change tool post yesterday and got it cleaned up and oiled. Working much better.

David, never broke a blade but bent one once. Cut a 3 foot groove in the deck in just a couple seconds. I think I have heard of broken blades going through the rear tractor tire.

Randy, prayers sent, shingles are rough, had them in my mouth and on my side.

Have a great day, prayers for all in need. Ed

72 outside this AM. Heading to the lower 90's today. Triple digit heat index again. Cannot accomplish much outside without loss of serious fluids so I putter about not really getting anything done. Lawn mower goes back to dealer today. Video disk included but now not needed as the stalling condition is much more apparent.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe.

Randy, is there a reason a paving crew would put a bag of ice on fresh pavement?

We reasoned that maybe it indicated when driveable.

   / Good morning!!!! #81,274
Asphalt is cool enough to drive on assuming compaction is correct 92 to 95 percent at 120 degrees. Not sure why someone would put ice on it a new one to me

62F clear sky low 90's for high and humid... :(

Putter just enough last evening to earn my supper  this evening looking the same w/3 H's hanging around.
E muffin feed little ones and slow roll to work next on the list.

Enjoy the day all.

good morning all. 72 going to lower 90's today, another hot but nice day.
Prayers for all in the way of that bad weather in the Gulf.

Headed to Lowes early with truck and trailer to pick up 30 5 gallon buckets of their best driveway sealer.
Excuse me, 4.75 gallons per bucket. What a rip...
Negotiated price down from 35 to 25 dollars a bucket. Savings paid for all my labor help...
Then will likely do driveway repair today before helpers come, hopefully soon.
And then some weedeating in the garden, knocking down weeds in there prior to laying new plastic.
Lot to do on a hot day, going to take it slow.

Not one store in this town sells Honda lawnmowers, strange. Lots of mowers with the same Honda engine but...
Might just order it online, same price, have to put it together no matter what. And no driving for an hour, loading and unloading.
gets delivered right to my garage where I can put it together. No wonder Bezos is so rich...

71 going to 92.

Randy, I'm pulling for you. We got shingles shots a few years ago. Should we be worried? I guess I need to pull out the record to see what kind of vaccine.

Went to the gym yesterday while my wife had her yoga ladies (I call them the Yogettes) here all morning. Then hiked Coco and watched a "Hallmark" movie with my wife. Not much else got done.

Need new tires for the trailer. I guess I'll go hang out on that thread. I remember some comments warning about Chinese tires. I got a 10% coupon at TSC, but a quick peek at their website looks like Chinese brands.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 3:45AM. Sunny. High near 90F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Glad you weren't hurt when that blade let loose, David. Kyle taught me that you'll need a large diameter, short, air hose and couplings to deliver the full potential of an impact wrench. I think I ended up with a 1/2" ID hose and couplings 25' long, and it made all the difference.

Last set of tires I ended up with were Green Ball, which got good reviews, but I think even they were made in China. Had Iron Man (Chinese) tires on the F250 when I bought it and the sidewalls bulged, and an Iron Man tire blew out on a rental trailer once when I was bringing the Kubota RTV home. Getting harder and harder to find US made trailer tires.

Finished installation of the saddle bag and exhaust system on the old BMW yesterday; took much longer than I anticipated but it all worked out.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Drinking second cup of coffee. 70° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 90° with lots of sun. Last day of high heat and humidity. Sure hope the forcaster's are correct. Want to get a few things done outside.

Randy, stay on top of your treatment for shingles. My wifes current neurological problems are probably related to her shingles in 2009.

David, nastly break on rotary cutter. Hope you find a way to get bolt loose. I have a couple of 33 mm sockets. They fit my JD rotary cutter.

wngsprd, look into upgrading to LT tires on your trailer.

Drew, i stopped putting coating on my drive 30 years ago. Does not look like it did then. But it is still a hard surface. Should be resurfaced. Will probably never get done by me.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All

Randy good news, little surprised the doc didn'y start anti-virals as soon as the diagnosis was made. The sooner you start them the more effective they are”

Shingles diagnoses wasn’t obvious until over the weekend. I went o the doc thinking I was getting a sinus infection, because of the way it presented, they thought I might have temporal arteritis, inflamed arteries in my scalp. It can cause all kinds of nasty stuff, so they treated me for both those conditions when I had neither. But it wasn’t their fault.
