Warning for all

No because they are already here! This state is a sanctuary state and will NOT inform immigration when any felon is released.

They got through the gate simply by opening the code keypad and triggering the gate. Way too simple. With the exception of the Polaris, which was purchased to replace the one lost in last years fire (along with his house) this same equipment has been there for longer than I have, and that is almost 10yrs now. This area has been virtually crime free for decades.

I hesitated to post how, because the Sheriff's asked me not to.

When I first got to this town I could and did (accidentally) leave all sorts of valuable stuff in the back of my truck. Once left my chain saw and all sorts of stuff for it, in the back (total brain fart, forgot it was there) and went shopping all over town with it back there. Never bothered. Letely with the different types I have seen wandering through town, I don't think that would be the case.

I have seen a lot of access control systems (including the use of RFID tags) sold on ebay from China that have that central weakness-- the keypad controls a relay, keypad is not in any way armored, so just get past it to the wire that controls the door. I guess such things are OK for light access control in areas often frequented.

I'd wonder how secure any automatic gate really is. Unless there's a guard dog on the other side, the mechanisms for opening and closing them on this side of the pond seem all to assume that the bad guy is just on the outside and won't have access to that mechanism that is often secured with just a few pins or screws.

One thing I would recommend is to not make it look like your loaded. I live in a rural area and many homes like mine cannot be seen from the roads but some folks like to put in these big fancy entrance gates even when their not such fancy folks. I have an ugly old tin cattle gate that you probably wouldn't even notice and that's fine because I can't see it from my house anyway.

Drone Laws have not proven favorable to property owners either. Evidently, we don't own the airspace over our own property. If you were to shoot down a drone casing your place, you may face a lawsuit. Just seems wrong.

You better shoot down the DEA helicopters that fly around here a couple times a year while you’re at it.

Challenge accepted.

Bring one by. Fly over my place. Go ahead.

Aww Heck, I just moon those Jokers. I think I probably would shoot down a drone if I caught it looking in the Windows. I enjoy my privacy and I should have that right.

What’s your experience with drones? I can fly high enough you’ll never see or hear it much less be able to hit it with a shotgun. Unless your property is in the 5 digit acreage I wouldn’t even have to trespass to “spy” on you. Or I can just use google earth. That’s beside the point that nobody cares about spying on you.

Considering that the FAA classifies drones as aircraft and the same penalties apply as for shooting down other planes, I think that I would just let them fly over.

So, you would allow some ol' pervy lech to spy on your daughters or your wife?
