Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #74,521
Good afternoon everyone.

Drew- Thanks for sharing about your Dad. I am free today to post what I want (w/i reason) due in part to your Dad's efforts during WWII. The greatest generation descriptor was well earned at great "cost(s)" made by combatants, noncombatants, and civilians alike.

A sub freezing breezy dank and dreary AM. So far the sky is just looking threatening. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory due to the predicted snow/sleet/frizzle/snizzle/freezing rain/rain later today tonight through into Tuesday. The wood stove is back in operation today. I already walked the perimeter this AM while it is still dry.

I was re-certified for medical marijuana use Thursday. I believe that it "works" at least for me and those MM users with whom I have compared "notes." I believe that CBD oil is now legal in all 50 states. There is increased medical research with promising results with many of the compounds found in MM. My wife is becoming increasingly challenged by her RA since she stopped taking Plaquinil(sp?) due to its side effects. I've been encouraging her to try CBD oil.

The autism "continuum" is still not truly well understood as to causes and best treatment approaches for the children and adults so challenged. It is more than an issue of it being now more easily identified and now more often reported. It's sad to have this disorder so politicized. More "non-politicized" funding for research is needed as well as support services for those affected and their families which should begin when the condition is first diagnosed not at some given age criteria. All this does not come cheaply. Hopefully some day soon medical science will discover more as to the causes and effects of and treatment for this complicated disorder.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

Otherwise I find handguns scary. Really. I have enough issues dealing with pacifism without
owning a handgun. And I really should take the shotgun out and make sure I can safely use it.
Have a healthy respect for guns. Lots of permanent things happen when the trigger gets pulled.

Which is why I want a stun gun that really works. On someone with battle gear on.
Because the crazies have that now too.
Until then, well...hoping for the best is not a complete strategy for sure.

Nothing scary about handguns, Drew...just a mechanical device. Learning to use one, and having confidence in your abilities takes some practice.
I'm not a Quaker or pacifist, but I wish no harm for anyone. Unfortunately, others don't always think like you and I (and most TBNers) and they will prey on those who they think won't resist.
Your choice as how you wish to defend yourself, or not...

Been having problems with my PC. It will load pics off a memory card but only show the small version. When I click on the pic,
I get the same message across a variety of access attempts:
The remote procedure call failed.

Sounds like I made a call and no one was home....?
So of course I rebooted the pc and that didn't help.
Then I turned it off for several minutes and could attach those pics on email.
So will try again here. Seems to work now.
But I had an automatic repair function initiated recently, what looked like the old checkdisc,
and it's been a little funky since.
But now its brain is back. Lost sectors have returned to the fold...

The Mark IV 22/45 goes 25 oz.
The SR-22 is about 18 oz.

Since I haven't actually handled a Mark IV yet...can't really attest to it's ergonomics. I can for the SR-22...it's really a nice little lightweight pistol with some nice features. Look on the Ruger website for more info...and Youtube for some reviews.
Both guns have a 10+1 capacity.
The SR-22 is about 100 bucks cheaper than the best price I got on a Mark IV...but the SR-22 is not a "target" pistol. Great groups, if you do your part

I bought my SR-22 from Sportsman Guide and they'll ship it to your local FFL.

Mine has a threaded barrel...and if you have any intention of going the suppressor route, I suggest you or your wife go for a threaded version too.

I just handled/ogled/drooled on a Mrk IV 22/45 LT. Price was $445 in a privately owned small gun shop. This one only had a rail on top, none on the bottom. I would love to have one. 5 second break down.

Ron and RNG, sorry about the loss of your friends.

RNG, I guess you'll need to get even more intimate with that Beemer. Sorry to hear about it. Do you think spark timing was off maybe to hole the piston? Detonation is a &%*)^%!!! Hope it doesn't cost too many pennies.

My daughter and I finally planted a long row of green beans in the cool wind yesterday AM. I still have room in the garden. What to plant? Maybe more strawberries to attract rabbits and deer? I would really like to plant some hominy. :) Maybe a bit of cilantro.

Farmer, my wife's 2nd pregnancy with our middle daughter was a very tough one. Our first child's pregnancy went fine. The 2nd one she would go days without sleep, with crazy anxieties. It was really hard on her (and us). The no sleep for days would just put her on pins and needles. She finally got the doctor to prescribe her some stuff I wish she didn't have to take while pregnant. I still wonder if the symptoms or the meds may have played a role in it. When she got pregnant the 3rd time, I was on pins and needles about the what if's and possibilities of having another child with autism. Many prayers were said. The pregnancy went fine and now we have a great son.

RNG;
when people from down south ask me when it is going to stop snowing, I tell them 'by Labour Day'.
We can expect the first snow of the winter season anytime after Labour Day.

I have a Mark IV target SS. 42 oz. Nice gun to handle and fire. But too heavy for anything else. I have been looking at 22/45. Will be watching to see how others like it.

69°F and another .35 inches rain.

Today is our Spring / Easter potluck. Should be interesting depending on the weather. Hoping for a few hours of dry. Sunny would be welcome bonus.

Prayers for all

Be safe
Have a great day

It is not too cold, 30F, but it is snowing since last night. Looking at the doppler it might snow or rain on and off till tomorrow. The birds eat about a bucket of bird food a day. Purple martins showed up two days ago. Hope they survive the calamity.
