Good morning!!!!

Looks like we are being treated to a few hours of sunshine this morning before it clouds over again. Other than having to dodge an occasional April shower it should be a good day for doing things outside, although ground is still way too wet to start harrowing.

That tappet noise I heard was probably detonation (Eric would call it pinking)

RNG thanks, pinking is certainly the word I understand. Detonation in my mind would have been something altogether more spectacular and it sounds like John was far too well liked for one of his friends to have booby trapped the bike with explosives

Drew, I hang my head in shame each time I see how neat and tidy your property is. It is something I aspire to, but I'm not sure I will ever get there. My wife has been incredibly tolerant at my slow progress around this house, yet I dare not risk showing her pictures of your place in case her patience with me stretches past breaking point :)

30 here with ice pellets falling. The driveway and yard are covered in about a half inch of white. Haven’t seen the salt truck yet. Will be staying inside till the promised 40 degrees later today.

Haven't seen any traffic here yet (VT RT 12 being a major secondary road). I'm hanging at home until daylight, at least.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 33° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 40° with chance of rain and snow in PM. Other than everything be covered with ice yesterday afternoon. We seem to have fared well from the storm. East of here there are over 300k without electric power. My son who lives north of Charlotte, NC says his area got hit with Tornado or straight line winds. Lots of tree damage. Only limbs down at his place. Never made it to my friend Funeral Service yesterday. I wonder if he was sending me a message. Last PT visit today. Then no other plans. Maybe watch end of NASCAR race that got canceled yesterday because of storms.

Drew, your place looks fantastic.

Those still in path of the storm stay safe.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Good morning all, 44 now going to 54 with a 30% chance of showers. Got about 1.5" and the tornado warning turned out to be nothing. Not even a strong storm. No plans for today, yet.

Drew, pretty.

You all be careful up there. Prayers sent and have a great day. Ed

Am waiting for sun to come up to see how many sticks I have down, hopefully no trees. Still very breezy, big weather system went off shore a few hours ago, looks like about 1.5 inches of rain, which we needed. This is the rain that will make my corn grow.

thank you for the nice comments on my place. Going to be challenging keeping up while this garden is going, but this Spring and Summer I didn't intend to go anywhere anyway. Once the fruit harvest is in, and the veggie garden played out, I hope to drive to California this Fall. I might fly but getting on a plane is very difficult for me, not a good flyer at all, and haven't flown in years.

Taking the Jaguar to a local used car place, allegedly the nicest in town and probably for nothing. They have a few fun cars, but are mostly jacked up pickup trucks, which is what clearly sells here. I was studying Hemmings last night and I think that may be the way to go. Hemmings also vets the responses to ads and say they get rid of 98 percent of the scammers. If I don't get anywhere this morning, and I honestly don't think I will, I'll spend the money for a Hemmings ad and see what happens.

Hope everyone feels good this morning, and prayers for those who need them. In some ways we all do.
You never know what each day will bring, and may today be a really good day for all.

.7” of rain since about 12 last night. Wind is howling 26-30. No lightening so far here. Mid 60s but dropping into the 40s late.

Kyle, thanks, we were relieved that all got along.

Went to church pot luck dinner at 5, great food! Ellen made green bean casserole which I normally avoid, I don’t know what she put in it but it was great!

Intended to stay at Ellen’s last night but remembered an early appointment. So came I home.

RIP, Gunny.
R. Lee Ermey, who can forget our favorite drill instructor.
Probably shouting orders still...
Full Metal Jacket was a pretty disturbing film for sure, but Gunny was always good.

Drew, great looking homestead!

I’ve been thinking about a pistol but can’t decide if I want a practical short range defense weapon or a big manly cannon! LOL

Prayers for all in need. Gotta get cranking!

PS; just had a 47 mph gust.

60 and cloudy going to 61. The storm dumped about 1.5 inches here last night and lots of wind.

Yesterday, I came down with Daugen Disease :) - spent about 7 hours in the garden, much of it on my hands and knees. Got rained on a few times, but only brief showers, helping knock down the dust. My wife helped for about 5 hours. Looks good now, but not nearly as nice as Drew's.

Nice to smell the Lilacs yesterday, and the pear is blooming. Heading outside now to feed the birds and check for storm damage.

Otherwise I find handguns scary. Really. I have enough issues dealing with pacifism without
owning a handgun. And I really should take the shotgun out and make sure I can safely use it.
Have a healthy respect for guns. Lots of permanent things happen when the trigger gets pulled.

Which is why I want a stun gun that really works. On someone with battle gear on.
Because the crazies have that now too.
Until then, well...hoping for the best is not a complete strategy for sure.

It would be nice if there were something for all situations. I keep a can of pepper spray by the door in case some drunk would come in to the yard or something else where lethal force isn't warranted. But in town I'm weighed down enough by the CZ75 to not want to add more. I've seen a video though of a ball that snaps on to the muzzle of a pistol to turn it in to a less than lethal weapon:
Ferguson police testing new, less lethal gun technology - YouTube

Though I feel like combining less than lethal with lethal might lead to some really unfortunate mistakes.

Cleaned out service truck yesterday full load of trash and then some. Today too wet to work have to see what can be gotten into. Yard was freshly mowed by better half over the weekend probably need to go on stick patrol with all this wind. Ticks are out and about and a good friend down the road had a bear visitor going thru the neighborhood trash. Hope he doesn't come visiting here

Andrew, when I told a friend one of my online tractor buddies was in Slovakia, his immediate thought was
whether you had to duck from bullets while driving your tractor.
He was exaggerating of course but do you have some social unrest there?
Getting bad when you have to up-armor your tractor.

Now to go squirt off the car and make it nice, drop off two gallon bags of lettuce to the food pantry, for the staff, not enough for clients,
and then on to used car dealer. Pretty sure it's a waste of time particularly if they won't put a dealer tag on the car. That's one of my requirements.
I'm likely just to drive it home with a bunch of truck guys joking about me. But then I get to plant for the rest of the day so my eye is on that ball actually.

Hope you all have a great day.

61 outside this AM. Thunderstorms last night pushed a lot of rain through here.

Still need to fix the roof on the sheds. LOL. I told my wife, I like the light in the sheds. Somehow she did not find the humor.

Have a great day all, be safe.
