That's what I found striking about the bill in the Manitoba thread (other than the rates....) - It's Straight Forward !

Well here's an American bill from National Grid, lots of fees and charges with a bottom line of a bit over 16 cents per kilowatt hour.

I heard on the news this morning that National Grid is going to hike our rates by 11% over the next three years.

I heard that also, supposedly on the transport side of the bill.
Of course I'm still amazed that we allowed a foreign corporation to purchase and run a utility company here.

I'll never understand it.

I should look at what our cost is per kw/hr. Never really added it up, our bill is usually around $63-$65 in the winter, highest we had in the summer was August 2017, $76 after installing central air in late July. We keep the thermostat around 74* in the summer.

$0.11/kwh, just paid my electric bill at $430 last month. I am an excellent consumer of electricity.

In my home this month it was 9.7 cents per kwh.

In my barn where I use very little electricity it was 11.2 cents per kwh.

Since there is a minimum charge, the less you use the higher price per kwh.

We have a minimum meter charge whether you use anything or not. Currently (pun intended) around $17. As I recall it was closer to $5 when I started this account in '98.

KwHr charge is .10 which was around 5 cents back then.

I watch my usage very closely and try to stay around 15 KwHrs per day. Last three months bills were $58, $55 and $64. This month will be a bit higher for sure with the AC running more than usual.
