The replacement joystick knob has a rocker for opening/closing.

A few hours' shop rate for installation is reasonable.
Mopardude, restrictors in the lines to your grapple cylinder would slow it down. I was planning on putting them in mine but with dual lids there's twice the volume and it's slow enough for me.
I had flow restrictors on my yanmar bucket grapple.
When winter came fluid was thicker. When I tried to use my grapple, It was too slow. I removed the restrictors
Use an adjustable inline flow control valve, one setting for warm weather and further open for cold weather.

So it has an electric button you push on a joystick? If you can operate loader up/down, Dump and the grapple all at the same time you have a true 3rd function system. If you can only operate 2 of the 3 you have a diverter.
I bet it’s a true 3rd function. Sounds like it need a flow control device to slow down fluid flow to grapple cylinder. You may want to install such a device at the grapple so that you don’t limit hydraulic flow to other attachments.
Do you have a single lid or dual? Mine is a dual lid and is surprisingly fast but not too fast. I imagine a single lid would be like a T-rex ready to eat something. 16.2 GPM baby!
Okay then I have a true third function. Yes I have an electric button. A flow restrictor fitting at the grapple makes sense, maybe I will try one. I suppose I would need 2, one for each line? open and close?
Yes, I have a single lid! 16.2 GPM sure closes the lid violently, I would rather the option to feather it and close nice and smooth. Same for the hydraulic auger, I know that a sudden start/stop for the auger may not be the healthiest for the auger motor, so maybe there is also something I can do for that...But I don't know what that would be.
Okay, I'll try one of these and put it right before the flat face coupler?

I do like how your third function operates. Opening and closing is a smooth motion, mine opens and closes almost instantly...
That's what I had on mine. If you have to use it when it's cold out and the fluid thickens, you may remove it because your grapple will operate very slowly
Anyone have an opinion on my plan below. I would appreciate your input before I order my hoses Thanks in advance
I have a Kubota factory installed third function valve. With 1/2 hose feed to my flat face coupling sat the loader bulkhead.
I would think if I use 1/4 hose I should have a bit less flow, than if I use 3/8 hose & would have a bit more control as to how fast the lids open and close.
My Grapple came plumbed with 1/4 hose from the 2 lids and I need to provide hose from 2 tees at the back of grapple to my loader flat faced couplings. Which will be about 60 inches of 1/4 inch hose.
Perhaps with my dual lids Since there is 2 hyd clyinders though they are small not much volume appear to be 2 or 2.5 diameter the lids may operate slow enough for me. Without having to install a restricter inline
Case, I think you値l be disappointed with 1/4 hose, Grapple will probably be very slow. I have 3/8 on mine and open / close is very acceptable. Mine is WR Long 3rd function.

Rick,Thanks for the reply. What size Line and or hose from your 3rd function to the bulkhead on your loader frame ? Is your entire grapple plumbed from your connectors to your lid Clyinders with 3/8 inch or is it with 1/4 inch hose. Thanks Bill
