All this talk about stitches - they Dr. who did mine didn't use stitches - worked out great. Asked him to take out an extra long piece so there was no chance to have it grow back. He gave me the pieces in a jar and I had them on the fireplace mantel for about 2 months.

Had mine done 23 years ago. Was in a fair amount of pain as I drove myself to and from the procedure. It was about an hour and a half ride home from Boston when the "BIG DIG" was going on, so it was a pretty uncomfortable ride in the pickup to say the least!!! :(

Next morning it felt like my right nut was going to explode!!! Called the doctor's office and got the nurse practitioner on the phone. I explained the pain I was having and she responded..."The pain on one side can be significantly more than the other. Seeing yours is on the right, that's your "Dominate ********". I'm thinking like WTF does that mean. She explained one side usually handles more of the workload and will "backup" more than the other, now that things are "shutdown". Who would have guessed!!! :confused3:

I had mine sniped on a Friday in '75. Family Dr. told me to drop trow and hop up on the table. Spent the next 2 days sitting in the rocking chair with ice down there. By Sunday evening I was back to normal.

Come on... You're a Texan for God's sake. Man up...

Haha good point. Procedure was done Monday, made sure everything still worked right Tuesday and hooked up my batwing to go mow most of tomorrow tonight. I never thought a bag of peas could feel so good but they do.

Sounds like a sound bit of advice right there!

I'll chime in.... Had mine done 24 years ago (about this time of year actually). My dad took me so I wouldn't have to drive my truck home. Scheduled it early in the week so the kids would be in daycare and I could have a couple of quiet days at home. Did the whole sack of peas thing, etc. Was OK for the first few days, then at the end of the week the pain was so bad that I was praying that my testicles would just fall off!! A day or two later and it was all fine again.

I was 31 when I had it done. The nurse was an attractive woman in her mid-30's. No, I didn't get a ... well, you know... in the room. But, when we were all done and she was wiping all the antiseptic off me she said "well Mark, do you want to sign a bit and see if you can hit the high notes now?" Sheesh! I wanted to smack her! LOL!

Then, you had to bring back two "samples" make sure you were actually sterile. The first time I came in, I tried to be discrete as the waiting room was full of senior citizens. The receptionist practically yelled "OH, YOU'RE DROPPING OFF SEMEN SAMPLES?". :confused:Sheesh! A week or two later I bring back in the second sample and get a different receptionist. I decided this time, what the heck, and decided to be just as brazen as the first receptionist was. So I walked up, gave my name and said "I have a little present for you!" She says "wait a minute" and... puts on a rubber glove, picks up a little trash can with a plastic lining, holds it at arms length towards me and very squimishly says "drop it in there". Sheesh!

But the worst part of the experience was comparing notes with a friend of mine that had it done about a year earlier. He was about 6'6" tall and was (according to his wife) "proportional". He said that they had to put a rubber band around the end of his tool to secure it out of the way and that they gave him mayonnaise jars for his samples. I had to tell him that the OR was cold and that I was in "ultra defensive mode" so they couldn't have gotten a rubber band around mine if they'd tried. And, they gave me tiny pill bottles for the samples. He said that I just didn't measure up!

That’s hilarious! Glad I’m not the only one. Went and mowed 23 acres yesterday. Knocked it out in right at 3 hrs and I was grateful. I was pretty sore the rest of the day and the incisions bled a bit in my tighty whiteys. Added the jock to be extra secure. Best thing will be when the ugly undies can go away!

Same situation, except I was 29 at the time, and of course had it done on a Friday. The doctor was quite a character anyway and he told me that nurse "only works on Fridays and we joke about whose turn it is to cut the next one."

We keep talking about making my appointment... I'm off work the next 8 days, wife wanted to schedule it for today. I said he'll no, deer season opens Monday, that's why I'm off, not so I can sit in the house with sore 'boys'!

But it's gonna happen... just not today!

Just get it done. You can still hunt. Just get help loading and cleaning. I promise you there is never going to be a time where you’re excited to get it done until your wife says she has a surprise for you and the next 18 years

I did it 11 years ago--six month AFTER my daughter was born.
I highly recommend it. A few day with sore boys, a few days that they are tender, but you are good to go.

My Doctor gave me a shot of liquid valium before the procedure. That was fantastic.

I'll chime in again.... This time about my dumb@$$ brother! He got his done 30-some years ago. For some reason he thought it would be a good idea to schedule his for right before he had to be out of a house he was vacating. So he gets snipped on one day and rents a carpet cleaner the next. Runs it for about 10 minutes and he's on the phone with me, begging me to come down and help him get the place cleaned up. What a maroon!

I'm not sure how soon after I was born that my Dad got his, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't long after!

When I was married my then brother in law and his family (wife and a couple of kids) came to visit for a day or two. While they were here, he made a phone call to the base hospital and cancelled his V-appointment. That was 25 years ago. Now he has a total of 8 or 9 kids! I lost count after the next 5.

I worked with a bloke who was a PITA and knew it all, he said it was only a small snip and therefore not painful and to prove his point he was getting it done and was going to ride his bike there and ride home afterwards.
The big day arrived and we didn't see him for that week, his wife called and told us she had to drive down and pick up him and his bike:laughing:

Many years ago, when I was a lieutenant in the police department, working the 3 to 11 p.m. shift that day, one of my officers came to work that afternoon right after having his snipping done. He just didn't want to call in sick, but I sent him home anyway.

If you haven't read my sig line, we have 7 kids, ages nearly 17, to 3 months. I'm no longer surprised when the wife tells me, this last time I told her before she wanted to admit it... Lil guy was a surprise, but I wouldn't give him back for anything. I told my wife ' you're either on the rag or knocked up' she replied 'there's no way I'm knocked up but its not the other'... guess what it was?

I'm gonna do it... just not something I'm going to do this week. We have to, if nothing else, for the sake of my wife. The last pregnancy was rough on her. 7 kids, and 4 miscarriages in the last 19 years.

Women are studs for sure. Stronger than we are for sure. If it was up to men, there would be a ton of single child households. We’re one and done, I’d love some more but it’s not in the cards with our schedule. 7 kids is awesome but I bet y’all are exhausted at the end of the day

Buddy had his done at the teaching hospital without realizing it. Nurse gets him prepped on the table. He's feeling pretty nervous about being exposed. And in comes 10 or so students to watch :p:laughing:
