Happy belated birthday Kyle.

Ugh...80 out this AM, and it's humid too. Heat advisory posted for the next few days. Looks like the lower 100's with the index. Must say I prefer the desert where I was 120 was OK, dry air. Here, you can smell the water in the air.

Ain't nothing going to be moving much today. Even the pool is too warm. LOL. Spoiled brat I am.

Well, be safe today all. It's going to be nasty. Drink lots of fluids. Seek shade and cool off if you can. Above all, smile!

Coffee is done brewing. 68° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 87° with chance of thunderstorms.
Now that pole barn repairs are complete. I can get started on putting a floor in area that used to be our wood storage area when we heated with wood. Need to remove all the items stored there. Then level the surface. Neighbor gave me 100 rubber patio blocks that I am going to cover the floor with. Good grandkid project. I will start moving items today.
Kyle, belated Happy Birthday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All this talk about AC in a shop. Need to add it to the project list.
Good Morning All.

good morning all. Start of hot dry weather for awhile. 70 now, shooting up to 93
and hotter later this week.

Going to powerwash fence rails today. Pretty easy job, spray bleach down one section, wash, repeat.
But first I have to go on my hands and knees and weed the nut trees. As I've said before, my help does not like to bend over. They just want to run machinery. Today a big chewout to one of them because they have been hitting my little trees with the weedeater. Bad idea. New rule, one inch away. Bend over and weed. No exception. All the fruit and nut trees have mulch borders; this problem is with my other small trees planted. They don't seem to understand that a plastic fence post is not in the same league as a living small tree. Lot of bark damage; that's going to stop today.

Happy Birthday Kyle.
Ed, can you take a pic of a spinning horse? did I get that right? some of us know nothing about knitting(?) and I'm curious what your wife is using.

In the old days I would have finished my tree trimming yesterday. In the new days, I left all the trimmings on the ground when my BP started pounding away. I can feel it in my neck and it's time to stop. Particularly when one is working alone. Can't call for help if I'm keeled over. Need to be careful for a few days in this really hot weather, it's finishing that "one more" that I have to learn to say, tomorrow. So do a lot of us aging spring chickens.

Farmer, I figured you had those fans I see in Northern tools that are as high as a man, whooooossshhhhhhh
are those fans rusting from moisture or the chicken environment they are in? Almost makes you want to buy fans with SS frames. Now those would cost a pretty penny...but at least all you'd have to do is replace the motors.

I still feel bad when I buy chicken breasts at $1.79 a pound. Price hasn't gone up in many years.
Farmer needs to be paid more. :2cents:

had a delicious vegetable lasagna last night made at a local shop. Absolutely delicious but a touch too much salt for me, which is normal, because almost everything salted tastes too salty for me. Though give me some crunchy dill gherkins and I'd eat them all day long. A pickle is a fine way to get some extra salt for the summer.

Sad to hear about Senator McCains's brain cancer.
A real patriot, and sad he gets an untreatable disease.

story I read yesterday saying cost of lumber is going up in anticipation of the Canadian wood tariffs being imposed.

Very productive day. Grandson and grand daughter are great helpers. Pole barn roof coating is done. New gutter on west side of pole barn. Replaced 2 bottom tongue and groove boards on west side of pole barn. All done by lunch time. They will return Friday to help with more projects.

Team effort is always best, especially when it is a family team.

Best thing is they keep track of where I lay something down. Keeps me from spending what seems to be most of my time looking for last item touched. :confused2:

70 going to 97...hit 98 here yesterday. Still no rain.

Kyle, sounds like a great birthday making your special tart. May try to duplicate that recipe...not waiting months for my birthday, though.

Eric, sad story about the ewe. At least she had a friend nearby at the end.

Hawkeye, sounds like a great project...something I need to try to build.

Don, I hope you got your trimming done earlier than I did. I had some delays, so didn't get started until 11:15, for two hours in long sleeves and long pants and hat...using my blade on the trimmer to get through some saplings and briars...was 94 when I finished, and I nearly passed out before I could cool off. I need to work smarter next time.

we were both out there at the same time sweating to death, literally....have to know when to fold them.
You see an end to the row and you want to finish "that part", when you should have already stopped, gone in, cooled off, etc.
I look at my face in the mirror when I come in and it's red and puffy for sure, thankfully I have a good heart. I think.
No sense testing our boundaries...

Saw an ad for a gizmo you plug into the OBD port of your car/truck and you get seriously cool
data from your vehicle displayed in nice gauges on your smart phone.
Too bad they can't implant that at birth so we can see how we are doing...
Plus a port so we don't have to keep getting needles all our life.

Sounds like me the other day. The mind is so focused on the task, it misses the body signs. You know the rain coming off YOUR forehead. LOL. Luck would have it, my trimmer ran out of string. Then I realized how far away from the house I was, with no water, and no ride.

Hey, we have GOT to be really careful in this heat. It sneaks up on you. Really.

I still cannot find my 20 foot chain. Wife thinks it's in the burn pile. Last time I used it was towards the end of winter, moving the milk vat out of the milk house. How does one misplace a 20 foot chain? LOL.
