Good Morning to All Who Celebrate! Currently 31° going to a high of 35° partly cloudy and cold. Snow forecast this weekend, they're talking maybe a dusting to a couple inches.

Eventful week! Tuesday, come home from dinner with Grandma to my father "permanently removing a skunk with a high velocity spread of pellets ejected out of a smoothbore tube" I opened the door of the truck to the aromatic perfume of the offending skunk's last spray. Yuck! Of course, the dog had already been sprayed at that point. 🙃 So I helped mom bathe the dog and get the oily mess off of her, then had to rinse the tub out several times.

The skunk lingered for several reasons, both in smell and the fact that Dad managed to cut the invisible fence while burying it.

Off work on Thursday to look at some properties. The first one was a complete wash, the second one wanted way too much money. However it was a beautiful home and well maintained. Sometimes you can just tell someone really didn't want to let a house go. Back to the listings again....

Starting the lengthy process in January to bring my girlfriend here, so that will be entertaining.

Need to re-cover the log splitter before the snow comes down, also need to re-attach the snowblower and snow push. Just in case!

I can sympathize with the wedding costs, it's $80usd for a marriage certificate if you have no ego. However we've spent decades telling little girls that their wedding is the Biggest Day Of Their Life Ever, so I don't see that going away anytime soon.

Don, hope your BIL continues to improve.
Ron, That's a well furred squirrel, I'm sure he's making it through the winter.
Scott, best of luck at the breakfast! I'll be in for my plate. :)

All not specified, y'all stay safe out there and be well! stay warm and on your feet!
Prayers for all ailing and recovering!

Whenever censorship comes up, I think of a Who's line is it anyway blooper. "Try to think of something clever with a little twist! This is what I have to do to please the F***ing Brit!"

I usually only ride the back country roads here in our county. average about 35mph. My bike has dual headlights, and I run them on highbeam during the daylight. I see some riders turn off their headlight, mainly because they don't want someone telling them what to do, and this is a sure fire way of getting hurt or killed. I don't care to ride on highways especially freeways on my m/c. In a year of ownership, I have maybe put 6-700 miles on it.
I could not avoid the motorcycle accident with someone making a U turn in front of me without him looking back. It changed my outlook on riding motorcycles
First bike was a basket case 1939 BSA at 13 that I was able ride in the hills. Not exactly a dirt bike but I had fun with it
Last bike was a more professional 400 cc motocross bike that I used in California for hill climbing and trails

The instinct of laying the bike down and skidding with it when there is no way to save it likely helped me to not be killed in the accident
Driving in winter conditions was where I learned that skill and wearing leather with bamboo inserts helped to prevent lots of scrapes

Just finished and shipped a big project, and as tends to be my good luck, a new request for quote popped into my inbox yesterday. Another relatively large project, just the quoting of which would normally keep me busy 6 - 10 days.

But this morning, when I awoke with the intent of continuing work on that design concept, I found an email from the customer stating they just needed a quick ROM price. Okay… you want it quick, you want it rough!

Pricing sent, now I have some unexpected free time to work on my winch wiring. But trouble… I should’ve bought a larger wiring box to allow service loops of the wire inside, rather than having to trim and terminate right at min length.

Oh well. Wiring of winch, solar charger, and vehicle charger should all be finally completed before sunset, today. Maybe I’ll even get the wire loom and batteries installed, if I don’t get interrupted too many times with phone calls, etc.

Good Morning! It is 62F right now in east Texas with mostly clear skies! Predicted to hit 70F today. Looks like I'm going to take the saw over to my brother's place and cut up some limbs for him.

Appointment at 2pm. People put their names on a ballot and then ask how to run a campaign. Reverse engineering a campaign seldom works.

Received a delivery of Cane River Pecans yesterday. Sure is good.

Window pane is broken on the old house, built in 1923. Just a crack but it gives me a reason to do some other work on it. That is on the schedule.

Need to rsvp for a Christmas Party today. That's my plan anyway. We will see what actually happens.

Continued prayers for TxDon's BIL and his family.

Hope everyone has a great day, stays safe, warm and well fed. Pray for our Nation!

33F and partly cloudy @ 13:00, WU was only calling for a high of 32F so we've made that. Low this morning was 17.2F.

Temp was down to 35F in the garage so I just fired up the torpedo heater a bit ago and will let it run for a while then go out there and mix up some seed and refill the hopper feeder.

Then probably do some further straightening up and organizing out there while it's warm.

Good progress downstairs yesterday.

More organizing/clean up on the north end.

Managed to get the large aluminum folding table all cleared off and taken down, more stuff moved out to the family room, now have plenty of room to work on 4 x 8 sheets of drywall and foam board. Nice to have a little room to work ... :giggle:

A bunch of items queued up by the stationary tubs for cleaning, drain line from the brine tank currently in one side soaking in some Iron Out. It looked like it was cleaning up pretty well last night when I knocked off.

Got northwest corner/side of the north wall vacuumed, stapled up some low-voltage wires that were hanging down. Those likely go to the original alarm box (Ademco, lockable steel wall-mount) in the current laundry room.

Unclear if they are still tied into the current system but I would like to pull the box - which slightly overhangs the stationary tube - if they aren't.

That brings us to the drain line in the laundry room.

When that room was converted from a large walk-in closet off the garage to an upstairs laundry room, the crew that did the remodel opted to run the drain and water lines out between the joists in the basement and into the crawlspace under the room. Bad design ... since the crawlspace is unheated ... 🤬

Would have been far better IMO, had they run the hot and cold water lines and drain up through the interior wall and then piped them surface-mount inside the laundry room ... which would have prevented any possibility of freezing, assuming the house was heated.

As it currently stands, there is a long heat tape running out there which I assume is wrapped around the water lines. No telling whether it is even functional ... or how much power it draws if it is.

So that's yet another project that needs done as part of replacing the floor-standing stationary tub with a wall-mount in the laundry room.

Drain line in the basement will need relocated anyways, since the basement wall it's currently hanging off of will be insulated and studded in.

There was a very small horizontal crack on that north concrete basement wall, about at grade level with the garage floor, that The Woman was concerned about. It doesn't leak (wall is inside the garage so protected) but I went ahead and resurrected a partially used, couple year old tube of caulking and got that sealed up final thing last night before I hit the rack.

If that has started to skin/dry I should be able to get at least the first 4 x 8 panel of 1" polyisocyanate insulation glued up and braced. (can't get the caulking on the foam board)

Got 10+ lbs of pumpkin puree packaged up in 1 lb containers and stuck in the freezer a few days ago. That was just from that single pumpkin. Still have more to do but freezer is starting to get full.

Time to get cracking.

Hope everyone is having a decent day ... (y)
