John Deere 3032E
I recently purchased a new 3038E and just noticed it does not display vehicle speed or mph. The manual doesn't cover speedometer and I have called the dealer and John Deere with no luck. I am told the 3038R has a speedometer. How are you to apply fertilizer and use a sprayer without ground speed? The tractor is hydrostatic so the ground speed charts do not apply.

Google "Measuring tractor ground speed for fertilizer spreading" and some hits will give you some ways.. For hydrostatic, use a set rpm and cruise control over a measured course for distance, while monitoring the volume or weight of the fertilizer at a setting. Calculate from there.
Maybe will take a few trial runs..

There are, I believe, monitors that are available as well and maybe can be rented or borrowed from a fertilizer farm store.

I have a hand held Garmin GPS I used to calibrate the speed odometer on my Honda motor cycle. It wasn't real expensive. Worked excellent. Hope this helps.

I had this exact same question and the solution in this post is what I did. Ordered and installed a cruise control kit. Part of calibrating your sprayer nozzles (or actually measuring nozzle output) involves running and timing a predetermined distance. I now set my RPMs where I know it's supposed to be and mash the go pedal all the way to the floorboard and lock in the cruise control.

What was John Deere thinking when they redesigned the 3000 series tractors?

There is no speedometer, wheel base is 8 inches shorter and the the vehicle weight is over 600 lbs lighter than my 3203 John Deere. Should have done better research and I would not have purchased a new 3000 series John Deere.

My 3039R has a speedometer (can't speak one way or the other about the E). Not sure what the heck I need it for, but it's there all the time.

As for the rest, I'm really liking my 3000 series just fine, thank you. I move all kinds of heavy stuff with it super fast, super reliable, and safe as can be. Hard to ask for more in my opinion.
