best wishes for your Mom Don. Even if it's only mental it's good for her to be positive before surgery.
Not sure I understand the reduction in arterial blood flow. Does that also correspond with lower BP?
What if your BP is currently normal? I cook with olive oil and use it in my salads; did not know it was heart healthy
but it makes sense.

It's not.

Drew, here is the information available to cardiac rehab patients.

"Dr. Robert vogal at the University of Maryland reported in the journal of the American College of Cardiology that olive oil was found to reduce blood flow in the arteries by 31% after consumption. This is a significant in relation to blood clots and heart attacks as well as angina. It is suggested that people be aware of any relationship between consuming olive oil and an angina attack. Also it was found that olive oil "causes significant damage" to the endothelial cells that line the inside of arteries. This damage causes inflammation which leads to atherosclerosis.

The issue of oil, however, does not refer only to olive oil. All vegetable-based oils, which pretty much follow the same model as processed sugar, are pressed from plants. All nutrients, including protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fiber and water have been stripped away.

Oil is nothing but fat. Oil has more calories per gram than any other food. A tablespoon contains about 14 grams of fat."

So why the good reports on people on the Mediterranean diet? Dr. Gregger explains - it's the veggies in spite of the oil.

Good Morning! 58F @ 5:45AM. Abundant sunshine. High 68F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Looks like those in the southeast are in for a week or more of rough weather. Lots of rain, thunderstorms, and more tornado watches, especially in east Texas.

I'd keep a shovel handy when I was out pulling weeds, Don. Good snake medicine, and not a bad hiking stick, either.

Spent most of yesterday on the phone with my webmaster partner in crime moving some database scripts around and doing general housekeeping. Frankly, we were cleaning up a mess that his sloppy habits caused, and perhaps the exercise will sink in as a lesson on what happens when the i's don't get dotted nor the t's crossed. :banghead: But I sure get tired of trying to explain the importance of good documentation, intuitive naming, and taking out the trash...

I did get a wing window pivot bead blasted and painted, so today I'll hopefully get the driver's side window back in and all the weather striping installed. That will make the thing weathertight again, first time in almost a year. I'm also going to install a SPOT Trace device so I'll know when the van gets moved. I don't mind my mechanic pushing it around, but Friday the other guy and his partner, the same ones that broke the luggage carrier, had it outside the shop while they shuffled around more of their vans. I don't want that to happen without adequate supervision, as they've already demonstrated they need it.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

Good morning all. Woke up to clear skies, with only a touch of frost on the grass. Spoilt for choice on what I can do today - no doubt my wife will narrow that selection down a little.

My little Iseki got to move a lot of dirt yesterday. While a tractor took it away in a dump trailer, I had chance to admire a fantastic view, looking down onto the Cheshire plain. The snaps I took with my phone don't really do the scenery justice, even so I thought you still may like to see it too. Sorry about the size of the files, but if I compress them much more you won't see anything if you zoom in.

Riptides, in that middle pic you may just make out a farm with a tall concrete silo like yours. Not sure if they have turned the top into an observatory as you wanted, although from up there they would be able to see one - the white pixelated blob on the horizon is the Lovell radio telescope at Jodrall Bank, the most famous observatory in this country.

Wonderful view!

Is the horse wearing a coat?

Kyle I remember when I was a child my Dad took us water moccasin hunting one night. One picked up it head and came aggressively at us. My dad had a head light on and kept his cool and just as it got about 10 feet from us he unloaded his 12 gauge on it. That was scary.

I've been frogging and gigged cottonmouths, red bellies and brown water snakes, you can't fry their legs.

43 real early, 52 now, around 70 later. real pretty day. I got up with arthritis acting out in my right knee, fine at 4:30, hardly put weight on it at 6. Getting old is a struggle, one we're gonna lose!:D

That snake was a rat snake, he is ok, except for scarring the out of me. He can live to eat more mice.

Need to pour another cup of coffee. 63° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 84° with mostly sunny skies. Taking dog to dog park is a very lonely thing since yesterday. Nobody is there but but dog and me. Patio time today.
Good Morning All.

Hawkeye, just wondered if you had a hearing tests recently ?

Doc said she needed some antiseptic - not empty the septic and I suggested you pamper her, not find poop for her !

If my hearing was any good, I would have heard the toilet still running and fixed it long ago. I have worked on it recently and thought we had it fixed. Hearing aids are on the list.
