After 5 hours of slipping and sliding around on the sloppy wet snot that we got yesterday and overnight I bit the bullet and bought a full set of chains. Front and rear. Duo Grip from Canadian Chains. $984.oo tax in and delivered. It will probably take about 2 weeks to get here from BC.

Congrats on your decision. I put chanins on a couple of weeks ago, just in time for a couple of new snowfalls. It was night and day difference having them on. The only thing I didn't like was installing them. LOL!

I just put the same tire chains on the rear of my Mahindra for the same reason. Now I am just waiting for a chance to try them out! The only test so far is a ride on frozen ground, a bit bumpy but so far so good!

This move will of course guarantee that you don't get any more snow this winter. ;)

I don't know about northern Ontario, but i haven't had enough snow for the last two seasons to even get the Bota out....since buying the chains.

After they are on I will NOT be taking them off. I don't go to town (paved road) in the summer with the tractor, so there is no need of taking them off.

I drove a cab over Freightliner for 8 years with a 20,000 lb steering axle. I am familiar with rough rides. If the ride is too rough, I can always install cross chains between the crossers that are already there. That will smooth it out some.

We haven't gotten our usual 4' yet, nor have we gotten either of the two big dumps we get every winter.

We get a minimum of 4' every winter and at least 2 weeks of -40 or so. I would rather have the snow than the -40 temps.

I have a tracking number for the chains and according to them the chains should be here on the 20th. I am guessing that they wont be in my hands until the Monday following the 20th. That is assuming the truck driver that brings them from B.C. can actually drive in the snow and doesn't lose it and my chains, too. I have very little faith in 'new Canadian' truck drivers.
