I have been to Detroit many times and have never seen the grass that tall. Not even on vacant lots.

That isn't that hard of mowing, mow grass sticking that high above say a 70 hp tractor and really thick then watch a video of it.

I don't know a thing about Detroit grass, but my little Kubota B2710 with a 5' rotary cutter had no problem with Johnson Grass that was that tall and much thicker.

I have no problem cutting Johnson grass.

Now how do we get rid if it?

I mowed a pasture a few weeks ago that hadn't been mowed in a couple of years. Grasses weren't too tall for the most part - maybe 2-3 feet - but some of the weed patches were 7' or better (technically, probably also grasses, but I still call them weeds).

That's an M9540 with 18.4x30" rear tires, 12.4x24" fronts.

If you keep it mowed short, it'll die out.

Yep, as hardy as it is, others will crowd it out if mowed short.

I used Outrider herbicide about a month ago on Johnson Grass in a Bluestem pasture. Looks very promising so far. I never had much luck with repeated mowing. Since the Johnson Grass is starting to go dormant here I won't really see how well it worked until next Spring . Vic
