Good morning!!!!

68 this morning and headed to 91 today.

I need to take oldest to preschool and then go look at a hay field for a friend. It's newly seeded (last fall) and now dieing. Then back for some errands today.

Kyle. I have to totally agree. The right people are great. We went through the states first steps program first. They were great. Slow but great. They got us into preschool without further evaluations. We had ear tubes knock us out of our first choice of behavioral screenings. First steps has the pull to get people in the front of the line. We are on the waiting list but just as regular folks. 1 year plus waiting list. So we asked pediatrician about Vandy. He sent referral now we are in after only a 4 month wait. I want a diagnosis from a specialist because preschool is refusing to evaluate him in areas where first steps said he needed assistance. They don't have that therapist on staff so they will only evaluate if there is need. We showed them need but they ignored it said they had to see it. I'm not the one they want to fight. They were pushing us around about some other things. I took him to early registration and he educated that whole building in about 15 minutes. The miracle was on my way out the door I was stopped and told there was a very good chance they'd be able to do somethings that they'd said was impossible 2 weeks prior. Amazing.

I hope you get things squared away with Finnly's school. I pretty sure my oldest is enjoying himself. As long as they provide him his services we'll be fine. I'm not one to make demands but I can squeak very loud and grind if I need to. You know where it goes from there.

Good Morning! 64F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 91F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

I couldn't agree more with your evaluation of SOM, Eric. To this day Ms. Andrews voice makes me cringe a bit, though I have to admit to hearing in my head "the hills are alive..." when we popped out of a 6 mile long tunnel on the other side of a snowed in pass in the Austrian Alps to be greeted with green grass, sunshine, and the sparkling fresh snow covering the mountain tops. Don't know about the twenty pounds, though. Motorcycle touring doesn't burn a lot of calories either, but we walked our butts off sightseeing, and in spite of the generous spreads put out by the hotels we stayed at, I still managed to lose a few pounds.

Sounds like you have a splendid trip coming up David. And good you like the German beer, too, as on that same trip I learned it wasn't for me. Got quite a few raised eyebrows asking for Bourbon in those alpine lodges...

Yes, Ed, Kyle's right: No fair getting a new piece of equipment and not sharing photos. As RS is find of saying, "pics or it didn't happen"!

Hopefully the school will once again come through with the right person, Kyle. Fingers crossed for you all.

My guess is we couldn't afford RS's rates for a log lift, Drew. Even though it would be far better than anything on the market now!

I've always said I can always make a repair for less than a pro would charge even if I have to do it twice. And I usually get to learn something in the process. Good deal on the tractor repair, Don, and keeping the postal service busy isn't a bad thing, either.

"Paint it Black" was running through my head yesterday as I cleaned and prepped the van for its first bit of exterior paint: the radiator bay. Along with a pair if grills, the modded oil tank, and various dash bits. Several were plastic, and the first step there was a coat of adhesion promotor, which must be followed by paint within three minutes. Apparently it softens the plastic so the paint sticks to it better, and the time limit meant I had to fire up two spray guns. Still have the old Binks 25 touch up gun from oh so many years ago, and it still works great. Won't know how well the AP works until the parts see some miles, but anything's better than the faded out look they wore when they came in the door.

Didn't use quite enough elbow grease when cleaning the bike Monday, and as I finished packing I noticed that there was still overspray on the paint. Plexus didn't take it off, neither did hand glaze, but the clay bar came through. Didn't have time to do it all, but I'll get to it when I return.

Speaking of which, it's almost light enough to depart and after a few more bites of oatmeal I'll be on my way. The tiny keyboard on my phone almost guarantees you guys won't be hearing much from me, but rest assured I'll be keeping an eye on you, if only to keep from being swamped when I get back!

Another gorgeous day before the heat comes back, 59-83. Trip sounds amazing David! Since my year in SE Asia, I never really wanted to travel abroad, spent many days crisscrossing North America, though, from Toronto to Tijuana, Vancouver to Key West. I lived in 57 places by the time I was 31, then lived in the same house for 28 years before building this one, probably haul me out of here feet first!

Wow! Finally caught up with you guys. I've been awol for weeks, and it took some beer last night, and 3 cups of coffee this morning to read everything. I am doing well, I went to Florida to see mom and dad, they are in their 80's now, and slowing down a bit. Mom had a new knee put in, her 3rd, and earlier this year, a new hip. I was impressed at her mobility, I was worried about that. Dad gave me his lathe, a 12 inch swing Craftsman Commercial, with a 48 in bed. I have one project planned for it, I'm sure I will find others.

Looks like a beautiful day here, we needed a break from the heat. I'm amazed at what some of you guys endure, much above 80 here drives people indoors to the A/C. Of course our humidity is usually pretty high, but mostly we don't get a lot of really hot weather. In Florida, if it gets below 80, people are wearing sweatshirts.

Ron and the rest of you guys have our prayers!

RNG, chuckling about the color of the parts van in the background. VW had no farfuergnuven or whatever when they mixed that. :)

Topps, I didn't know that you've been to all 57 states....:)

Welcome back 300.

Having a tough time wrapping my head around 57 degrees Roy...

David, are you going to Nuremberg or Vilshofen? We've looked at the Budapest to Nuremberg for a future trip. Also Basel to Amsterdam.

A lovely morning here, particularly as I have been excused painting tasks for the day while I go do some paid work. I can't help but associate schnitzel with noodles and Rogers and Hammerstein music for The sound Of Music, but that's what happens to the brain of a traumatised kid who already has the scar to prove the neighbour's dog bites, fully appreciates that bees sting if you don't hit them quite right and gets dragged off kicking and screaming (ok, that's a slight exaggeration) to see a film that will never be one of my favourite things. :)

How traumatic, Eric
Poor ting :(

Ed, another tool! Why? My wife just does not understand the need.

My wife is determined to see that I have a shop well set up. She wants me happy and she knows that working in the shop makes me happy.:cool2:

Ed

Not sure that mine is quite the same category, but absolutely supportive. Through the years when I have been able to do or fix something that really depended on having a good tool I never hesitate to thank her for allowing me that privilege. Makes me appreciate her even more.
