Eric I was on the track teem with Ray Akenbalm, (I am sure I spelled it wrong) he went on to compete in the Pentathion. That involves running, shooting, fencing, swimming and equestrian. All I know is he ran very fast and I ran very slow. He held the record in most or all of the events he competed in.

Have a great day. Ed

Ed, a good friend of mine, from Hunt Texas, is in Rio to work with Team USA pentathletes during their equestrian events. He is an exceptional horseman.

Son took final test for becoming a lawyer if he passes starts work first of October praise Jesus

Hopeful for a great outcome and a job! Also, some a/c in your very near future. Our family had no a/c until I was 14. I did, however, have some friends with a/c that I'd go hang out with on summer days.

RNG is our resident Bondo, Jaime' Bondo, cero, cero, siete right now. :) waiting for picks. Good paint jobs require good lighting, I hope your led set is good enough. I thought originally that you were going to set up and paint in the broad daylight. How long until that first low humidity day, created by a northern with a bit cooler temps away?

Roy G is right. My wife doesn't want to wake up due to the pitter patter of rain drops on the window ledge here. (Smithville is about a 20-25 minute drive from my house) Maybe TxDon hogged most of the rain yesterday afternoon/evening?

Kyle, we got almost 1" from 3-4 pm yesterday and radar shows more coming soon.

   / Good morning!!!! #48,766
We never had A/C until 1969 and that was a window unit

Weather will stay sticky and hot thru September with brief cool downs but heat and humidity come right back. Big storms this coming week in mid west and mid Atlantic. No real changes at this time till October. Wish I had better news

Ed I'm sure I'll like Ruger just have a lot of Browning which I'm fond of but most used rifle is Remington 700 Mountain Rifle

Good Morning! 73F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High 97F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Drew, try really romping on those brakes a few times from high speed before you even think about replacing parts. But first be sure to look in your rear view mirror to make sure nobody's following too closely! Lots of times deposits build up on the rotors and pads because the brakes never get used hard. A few practice panic stops can burn them off and restore smooth, normal operation.

Buppies, I just checked the list of the recently departed boyfriend's guns and it contains a Savage Anchutz Model 1431/32 in 22 Hornet with Schnable forend tip and 3.8 Redfield Scope. It's for sale, though I haven't a clue what it's worth. If you're interested I can send you some photos and do some digging on the value. I'm guessing somewhere around Blue Book would be fair. I know he took very good care of all his stuff, and usually opted for fancy wood and such with his guns.

Farmer, when I thought of your chickens and what it must cost to heat and cool them every month, I didn't feel so bad about my little bill. Even so, it's about a hundred and twenty bux over the biggest utility bill I've ever seen, and that's a lot of beer!:hissyfit::laughing:

Kyle, my bondo prowess is all hired out this round. And I just picked up four more 4' LED shop lights (for a total of 16), and hope to get them hung today for a test tonight. Probably be bright enough to be seen from space.:D The biggest problem I had with outside daylight painting was having to look into the sun at times. Next came trying to see into dark shadows. I think at night the first problem goes away, and a hand held light should take care of the second since the LEDs won't be bright enough to cast deep shadows. At least that's the hope.

Well I did get a response from the spray booth fan seller, and spent yesterday afternoon and evening on the road to South Lake Tahoe and back. Smooth trip, easy traffic through the Sacramento area, real nice guy selling it. The fan is a real brute: 1/2 HP GE motor, big steel blades and cage, and it must weigh 50 pounds. It's easily a $600 fan if bought new (I paid only $25), and they probably don't make them as well these days. The only problem is it's out of balance, or maybe something's bent, because it's got a significant vibration at full speed. Probably been like that for years, but I'll fiddle with it this morning to see if there's anything I can to to cure it. I have no doubt it's strong enough to blow air through a filter; it sat on sandy soil when he fired it up and the grains it picked up stung my hand when I held it in the airflow. But it's also way heavier than my lightweight frame can hold, so I'll have to move the fan window to the ground and do a real good job of cleaning the driveway in front of where the air enters the booth. One DIY spray booth web page I saw recommended firing up the fans at least a half hour before painting just to get the dust out of the air.

BTW, South Lake Tahoe is one of the biggest tourist traps in the state. Nice temperatures this time of year, mid 70s at 5PM vs. 100+ in Sacramento just an hour before. But I paid almost five bux for a mid size bag of Doritos to snack on during the trip back; thank goodness I started with a full 38 gallon tank of fuel or I'd have been paying three bux plus for Diesel there. As it was I used less than half a tank and will just fill up at my regular Safeway grocery store next week at a mere $2.39/gallon.

Is anyone else seeing a different version of weatherunderground? Since I've had to re-do my putter, I've been using firefox and well, its different.

I'm seeing pretty much the same thing as always with Chrome on my Macs, but then I usually just go to the page for my weather station (which has now been restored to their system). Just went to the landing page for WU, and it's way different than I last looked at it many moons ago. But in my experience they change it frequently, so could what you're seeing just be a coincidence?

Still hot and humid, through Wednesday we'll be mid 90's, then mid to upper 80's for a while but still humid as nighttime lows are in the 70's to near 80. The heat index at 10:30 this morning was 104.
I got out of the body shop business just about the time the EPA was making us go to downdraft booths and all that stuff. I used a whole house fan that my mom and dad bought when I was a baby in 1952, a GE unit. I gave it to a friend to use in his Corvette resto shop, it ran until 2004.

unpleasantly hot out, hand washed the car, windows done, vacuumed, added 3/4 of a quart of 5W/30 synthetic (will need to keep an eye on that), cleaned the doorsills and engine compartment, a little overdue. RNG, I've already tried the hard braking early on, didn't do anything. The other alternative is replace the pads and see if that helps; I'd be doing that anyway if I replaced the rotors likely.

Maybe TxDon hogged most of the rain yesterday afternoon/evening?

No rain hog here, we got 1/3" yesterday and 1/3" so far today. Light sprinkle now, and a marvelous 77˚ at 1030AM.

Around 74F with a steady rain .... looks like we've gotten a little over 1/10th of an inch since midnight. Big area of rain stretching back down into KY that moving northeast ... we're in the green right now, but lots of yellow and red headed our way. High today predicted to be 78F, 81F tomorrow.

Need to do a little gravel vacuuming and a PWC today on the fish tanks ... long overdue.

RS. Your mention of discount batteries reminded me of the checkout line at Rural King once. The manager came by and told the cashier to push the batteries. A pack of 20 AA for .25. When asked I picked up a pack and looked at them. Putting them back the cashier asked why I didn't want them. I said because they are 6 months past their expiration date. She said she didn't know batteries were dated. When I showed her she was floored. Then tried to get her husbands attention 2 lanes over. He was buying like 10 packs. To no success. Laughing.
I dunno if I'd call these "discount" ... at $7.99 for a 4-pak they sure ain't givin' 'em away ...

Anyways, the expiration code is 06-2021 ... so hopefully we'll be ok ... ;)

Good belated morning. Granddaughter & wife met me for the trip back from Albany to Montana. What a chatterbox! And friends with everyone.
Her batteries are dead so nap time right now then we are off again.
I got a Lincoln tombstone AC/DC gave to me back home when I get in. I'd been planning on getting one eventually anyway.
I'll have to look at the box in the shop to see what the power is out there. I know I have 220 but I think only two 50 amp lines from the house is feeding it.

Congrats !

My oldest graduated (magna *** laude even) a couple of weeks ago from Ohio State's College of Engineering with a BS in Welding Engineering.

He was offered a job with NASA's Jet Propulsion Labs in Pasadena, CA ... he's putting his Masters on hold (he was enrolled in both programs concurrently) so he can start in September.
