The number of sport-spams are way down, but they're still occurring. I just reported one a few minutes ago but the 'New Member Link Limitation' means the attempted link fails.

I did notice that I wasn't seeing spam posts like before.

G'day Xfaxman!

Yep, I stumbled upon this little titbit the day TBN initiated the new 'policy'. A newbie, who had a problem & wanted to post either pictures or a link, apologised for having to add superfluous posts IOT get over the new "6 posts before you're allowed to link" rule.

It's effectively shut down the sport-link-spambot. All they do now, if it persists in trying to post a link, is repeat the title in the reply box.
