That's right...no cows pissin' on a flat rock. No idea where that saying came from, but been using it all my life.

I grew up hearing my dad saying it. Still think about that saying when we get a downpour.

68 headed to 88. Only .04 rain last night.

Was still too wet yesterday to till a couple of fields, so hope they dry today.

Eric, beautiful place to take your dog for a walk about.

Drew, better take your terrapins to high ground.

61 this morning and headed to 88 today. Next chance of rain is next week.

That means the cutters are going on both tractors today and won't come off till we are done cutting. Shouldn't take over 2-3 days. Then we'll see how fast it'll roll.

If I have time I need to service some fans at the chicken coops.

Drew. Stay dry.

Eric nice pictures.
A cow pissin' on a flat rock is also a toad strangler or a heavy rain.
Floods every time a frog pisses- easily flooded.

No cows and flat rocks then ! I hadn't heard that saying of yours before - now light showers will never be the same :).

We had the cows pissing on flat rocks about 7 last night! :D I've heard that all my life, too. But some of my Wilson ancestors are from Scotland.

Hot and humid again, dew point has been above 70° since Saturday, no relief today or tomorrow, but mid week a couple of days in the mid 70's with lows in the low 50's. Looks like tropical system will stay south of us.

yup, right over my head, hopefully East.
Big system, sucking water from a large part of the Gulf

I'm going to try to get a little lawn mowing done this morning, rain coming early afternoon, at least I'll get the lawns out front done.
Went down and ordered my tiller chain case gasket from the New Holland dealer, that also does Woods. Special order, what should be twenty bucks will wind up being forty.
Couldn't find it online, maybe Woods protects its parts, must go to dealer.

71.1F and partly cloudy with a good breeze and clouds rolling by. High of 79F and a chance of thunderstorms later today.

Need to install MMM and get front lawn mowed, as it's getting really long. Mebbe The Woman would like some seat time.

Spent a good part of yesterday cleaning up the garage. Still have a ways to go. Doesn't seem like I can ever get it completed before something else needs worked on and another mess gets made.

Returned tire/wheel combos to HF yesterday and picked up a couple of tubes for 13 x 5.00-6 tires. The tires on the little green town-behind dump wagon are the originals and the wagon itself is probably at least 10 years old ... but I got it operational yesterday by replacing the tube in one of its tires. Really liking those two-piece, split rims ... The tires themselves are probably going to have to be replaced in the not-too-distant future due to cracking.

HF was out of several part no's in their 13" tires when I went in yesterday ... supposedly, according to the manager, they have a truck due in today with an order.

Water Buffalo still needs some work ... at least one bad tube, one tire with a split casing, and a wheel whose bearings are shot. I think the bearings are 6203's and the last time I replaced them on one of these wagons they only gave me double-shielded bearings, rather than double-sealed. Might try double-sealed this time around ... ought to last longer in this application. Need to check price difference.

Got the beeswax/nectar/pollen rendered, haven't checked it to see if it separated into distinct layers ... but it sure was tasting pretty good when we were working with it.

Was going to work on the soil screen frame last night ... but after watching the drubbing that the Cavs took from Golden State I totally lost all motivation ... :(

Afternoon, Great day here on the North Bluff, Sun, 72, a nice wind and low humidity, Wife went into planting mode and asked for her water tank on the Gator. Here it is. 27 gallons, and does a nice job. Found a bunch of poison ivy growing next to some trails so I mixed up a batch of death and shot it all with the weed sprayer I also have for the gator. I know the Gator ain't big but it works just fine for our 8 acres. It is 11 years old in August this year and has 1,800+ hours on it. has been a nice tool to have around. ...
mkr,

That's a really nice looking set up ... I can imagine it would be very handy ...

Good Morning! 78F @ 7:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High around 100F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Glad the Jag is back on the road, Drew, and that the Texas floods are starting to recede.

The hot weather state wide continues. Was on the road south to a little mountain hamlet called Camp Nelson, leaving Friday morning at 5:45 and arriving before the peak of the heat. Tried to stay in the upper elevations for most of the weekend, but still managed to find 100+ temps regularly. Made some nice new friends, found some huge Sequoia trees, ate and drank too much, even got wet in some mountain showers yesterday afternoon on the way home. Rode about 1100 miles all told, made some new friends.

Yesterday morning at about 7, and the trees:

67°F and .64 inches rain last 24 hours, raining as I type.

Great time with friends yesterday.

Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning. The landscape has a noticeably different look to it today. Although one or two hawthorns are still in full blossom, such as this one, in a pit facing north, most of the views have returned to green. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=471082"/> <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=471083"/>

Very nice, Eric.
How pastoral :)

June 6, 1944, my dad spent the day at the beach, boat riding, so today we can spend a day at the beach as free men.

Lets not forget D-DAY 72 years ago Today.
71 heading to 80, then cooler tomorrow.

I'm sure there was a bit more to it than boat riding. Bless our heroes.

rains are about to start here, the patio umbrella is down, might be some high winds tomorrow from this system, hopefully it will stay on the other side of the Outer Banks.
Vacationers at the beach are in for a stormy time. Personally I love being at the beach in a storm. The sound of waves crashing is like a never ending symphony.
And right after the storm ends, all kinds of neat stuff on the beach. The flotsam and jetsam of life with maybe a little treasure or two...

Perhaps it was thinking of the upcoming winds, but I decided it was time I learned how to fly a kite. So I ordered some inexpensive plastic ones online, and will try them out on a windy day here. Some regular ones and then a fun one shaped like a big red octopus.
Thought this might be a fun thing to do when I finally make it to the beach. Though on a windy day I have a spot I might get one aloft here. Get it up there and then tie the string to a fence post. I suppose i should find one shaped like a turtle...not very aerodynamic.

Starting to hear the thunder announcing the coming front. Going to be picking up a bunch of sticks later this week, and am glad I got most of the place mowed today.
We could get one of those five inchers that flooded my place before; a real test of my new drainage ditches. But it also means that all my new shrubs are going to get a first class soaking. We need that; the ground below has gotten dry. And yeah, I'd better get the turtles to high ground tomorrow morning.

Its traveled. I've used it for years too. Thought it might be related to cows in the milking shed.

Guys,, My dad was not in D-day but was in Burma. Just as bad or worse. He was attacked by some bug that ate his lungs. Dead at 67. They had to poison him to kill the bug before he could come home. He spent more time in the hospital than prepping the Flying Tigers he was there to make sure would fly.

Got the backyard mowed and started weed trimming.

Good morning all. The year is passing quickly, this morning I had to set the alarm clock a little earlier as some of the faster growing lambs had made it to 40 kg. They are now loaded and on their way to market.

Randy, Kev, I am very grateful to your dads and all those others, many who never made it to be a dad, for all they did in the war.

Kev, I'm still reading a book I got at Christmas about the war in Burma and the Chindits. Each chapter is made up of quotations from those who survived. Only trouble is, the print is so small, it's a strain to read more than a few pages at a time. Disease and the shortage of water and food are recurring memories from the troops, to say nothing of bullets and mortar bombs.
