I'm thinking of getting a iPhone and am looking at the 5s refurbished. I'm not under contract but AT&T is full retail price only. The days of getting a discount phone for going under contract are gone. Has anyone found a good place to buy a refurbished iPhone? I don't have access to any "cheap hand me downs" from relatives that need the latest iPhone.

I've bought a lot of equipment from newegg.com, including a refurbished PC.

Good Morning. 0740, mostly cloudy, 57F with 96% humidity. Forecast high of 73F with no chance of rain today, and a low of 43F tonight. Another warm day here. It being Friday, I go into work at 1300, so not much time to get involved in anything.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

Well it is morning and 21 heading to 24. Cloudy.

I saw water on the top of the water heater yesterday and noticed a large icicle hanging off of the vent tube outside. Got me to look closer. Yeah no kidding a leak. The last one puked before the 6 year warranty expired. But for a cost extra of $75 you could get the warranty on the replacement to cover 6 years or they would of only covered the replacement till the warranty would of run out from the original heater install date?????? So I bucked up the $75 and replacement R&R of over $350 in 2011. So I called the plumber and left a message last night about this one leaking. Some woman from the plumber calls at 7:00 sharp and they will be here today sometime?
So I asked if that was the way it would be this time. She said they don't do that anymore so the replacement today's warranty will run out 6 years from when they put in the POS that is leaking back in 2011. Sounds to me like OA Smith knows their heaters are junk.

So today's plan,,sit on my hands and wait after I go the the bank and get some cash so I can pick up the grapple thumb I had made for the bucket on the John Deere.

Kev, can't wait to see what you had made, hoping it is what I have been thinking of. As far as the warranty, that seems to be what they all are doing. When it all comes from china, it is hard to make them accountable.

Drew;

You can get the Honeywell 4000 lumen barn light at Sam's Club for $60.

They come in both galvanized and bronze finish.

I plan to start changing out our 4 high pressure sodium lights with them.

27 this morning and headed to 36 today. Had a clipper come through and drop about a half inch of snow. Roads are slick as our salt trucks operate daylight hours only for safety. So no school today. Means the wife's home again and the kids don't get the valentines party. Oops.

Have two houses of birds to migrate today and two more to prep for migration.

Don. The days of discounted phones are over but service prices dropped. We each upgraded to a new iPhone 6 and our bill stayed about the same. Our bill will go down if we keep the phones longer than the payment period. You were always paying for those discounted phone.

Kev. That wagon looks real nice. When do you start production? Only I want wooden wheels. Laughing. :).

If only we could write livestock off as dependents. But your honor, those animals are dependent upon me for their basic needs. Food, water and shelter. Doubt that would fly.

Drew. Nice lights. They are really bright. Are they switched at the house or do you have to be in the barn?

Are they switched at the house or do you have to be in the barn?

one is automatic, the Honeywell, and the other one has a switch inside the barn. Barn has its own pole and meter and not
connected to house at all. Doesn't surprise me about the price; "free shipping" is not free. Fifteen bucks is about what it would cost to ship something
that weighed a bit like this does. I need to find my local Sams's Club, think it's quite a drive. I'd rather have Costco but they are nowhere near me.

picked up some supplies and a little salt at TSC this morning, need to get down to the barn before it starts snowing, and the radar says it's here.

baaaaaaaahhhhhhh

I only use 303 on plastic/rubber/vinyl; never on metal. The best thing for metal is something waxy but I don't want a sticky coating on the
thing, it should shine a bit. Sticky attracts dirt...I'm sure coating it in cosmoline would be greatly effective but a little hard on the steaks. ;)
I find the SS polish you get for appliances pretty nasty, exaggerates finger prints, not my favorite stuff. Just wondered if there was something better for outside.
Drew I have had good luck with Flitz last along time!!

Don. The days of discounted phones are over but service prices dropped.

That's What I asked At&t when my contract ran out and they said my rate plan $ will be the same. However they had a new plan :confused2:
. . . . now I pay $5 more a month. . .
. . . but now I can add a smart phone for free instead of $15 month extra charge for data on the extra phone (and unlimited texting and voice which I did not have before and usually went over $5 a month). At&t is the only phone that has decent coverage out here.

The best deal found today for the 5s (refurbished/30 day warranty) is $198 here:

Kev, I am having one of these made to install to my bucket. The guy lives about 40 minutes from here and is making it to order for the bucket I have. He is doing it for $340.00 because me and my neighbor Jim are both getting one.

Drew, I installed one of these LED lights on my shed 14 months ago and I really like it. Cost was $109 + tax at Menards. Bright, comes right on in the cold and cheap to run.

AL2050LPC Series

New water heater is installed and running. Don't know what it is going to cost because I have not got the bill yet. They replaced the AO Smith with a Bradford White brand. I find that strange because the AO Smith was under warranty??? I have never heard of Bradford White. This is it.. Oh well it is fixed and working.

too funny, thanks Larro. And about half way to Winterville as the crow flies is Grimesland, and you know what's there....

snow is done, about an inch and a half. Decided to not go out to dinner tonight, not because I was worried about driving but the other couple is elderly, one is recovering from a broken hip, and one has MS with a wheelchair. Not a good night to be venturing out in slippery conditions. Next Tuesday it's supposed to be 60 here, so one night next week was considered to be a smarter plan. I will see how motivated I am to shovel the sidewalk in the morning.

and this folks is a big snow in coastal NC...

MKR, Every single time I have replaced a water heater it has been in February!
KevT, tonight bean burgers (made of beans/carrots/parsley/tomatoes/oatmeal/spices) with cilantro/lime sauce, with baked potato fries and mexi-corn! How is the plant based/no oil diet also good for the liver, I was just doing it for the heart.

Drew, that yard looks soo clean!

Drew, that looks postcard worthy.

I do feel like I know all the swamps, hills and hollows around Grimesland. I spent lots of time there {even if it was in 1718} when I was writing. Other than a canal and a sandpit or two, the swamps and land must have been much the same as today.

Bought one of the honeywell lights, haven't put it up yet. Noticed costco has the LED shop light at $25 now, and it has a pull switch now. I paid $34 and no switch last yr.
Pulled in my drive last night and noticed a pile of boxes in front of my barn. Was a delivery for my neighbor the plumber. Only one house off, not too bad.
Going down near 0°F tonight, my garden is covered in snow. Did clean out the pellet stove tonight and fired it back up.

Good morning. Feels cold in the wind but it's only just on freezing. No doubt Roy would consider that almost tropical conditions.

I finally got around to capping over the tops of the gate posts that have gone in over the last few months. Some of these posts should easily outlast me, so maybe one day someone will come along, turn over a cap and wonder what other buildings the other anodised aluminium has been re-cycled from.
