For small, powerful and convenient personal lights I'm using LED Lenser P-7 and 7.2
Not rechargeable [4 AAA], but a pretty serviceable product, and a good warranty.

Princeton Tec Apex headlamp. I'd rather have hands free,,,throwback to my cave exploring days. I have a headlamp that is brighter but always grab the Apex.

I have a lot of flashlights. I don't know about a favorite. I don't have any expensive ones. I probably use my 2 LED headlights more than anything. Just too handy to have your hands free. They are some no name chinese thing. I have some handheld LED's also and a large collection of Maglights gathered over the years. They still work fine, but they make a better club than a light, now with the advent of LED lights, they seem puny in comparison. Not to mention battery and bulb consumption. Being an old guy I can remember the revolution of when the Mag lights came on the scene and they were such an improvement to the old copper/plated flashlights we had before and the old plastic ones from Japan, that it wasn't even funny. Mag lights worked most of the time without beating on them and were made of high quality components. I realize of course you can now buy LED Maglite's. But there are so many cheap flashlights available with high output to choose from now.

A friend bought me a Duracell alluminum LED flashlight from Cosco. Came in a three pack for twenty two dollars CDN. Two brightness levels and an adjustable beam. I was VERY impressed! Too bad, many of these flashlights use the AAA batteries, but I guess it is a matter of voltage and size.
