Premium Tractor Fluid from Costco

Have seen a lot of discussion on fluids... even want to qualify against a previous thread I am not talking about their standard hydro fluid.

Costco carries a generic label product - called Premium Tractor Fluid. Claims to meet/exceed a variety of manufacturers requirements such as Deere or Kubota UDT. Being as costco is not brewing their own, what product actually lies within that big black bucket?

About to do my 50 hour change, and don't want to throw crap in it...

The place to start in that search usually is with the MSDS. Not sure if Costco has thiers online or not, but they will be available in the store, they must provide you one if you request it. Then start your sluething from there.

When I put the words "Premium" and "black bucket", it sounds like the same stuff that TSC sells...am I wrong? I've never seen it at COSTCO...How much are they asking for 5 gallons? BobG in VA

The Costco near us had AW-46 Hyd Oil for $26.89 / 5 gal. Not sure if AW-46 is adequate though for HST. Didn't see it advertised as "Premium Tractor Fluid", just Hydraulic Oil.

Nope, aw-46 is not it... thats a seperate bucket, and not what I was considering. Could not find the MSDS online. Will check next time I am in store, which is not too often.

Disregard my discussion of the AW-46 Hyd Oil. It's just plain hyd oil and not suitable for HST use.

I checked with one of the managers at my Costco several years ago about the lubricating fluids including the universal tractor lube and he said they were made by Citgo.

Holy Smoley! So what is it that is difference in the oil suitable for an HST. I had to add oil to my 330hst a while back and I think I used the aw-46 from Costco. %$#&!! Thats it..I was just considering changing it 2 weeks ago..but I think its a "like now" situation instead of doing what I like best....waiting till the snow is really deep!

With Kubota's S UDT 2 selling for just over $100 for 5 gallons, I suspect it is a "better" product for HST uses. Posters who have installed it usually are pleased with the results.
Gear drive tractors should be fine with aw-46.

Depends on your tractor.
