Backyard Shed for BX Tractor

We don't worry much about snowdrifts around here, so we took the open-air approach. Added the tractor shed when we built the boat barn.

As said up-thread, build big and (maybe) avoid running out of space. This seemed enormous when it was done, but look at it now. We need a shed for the shed.

I have more pictures of it being built if you are going to build something let me know and I can post them and answer any question you might have.

Yes, I for one would be interested in pictures of the building process

I have a Bx2360 and many attachments that needed a shed/barn. I wanted a little shop to work in and a safe place to store everything, it ended up being 12x32' because that's what size roof truss I got for free. So I made a 12x16 shop and a 12x16 barn. The barn has sliding doors on the front and end.

All the attachments go in from the front and the tractor is driven in from the end.

I stick my Kioti in a shelter logic SUV garage.

How's that ShelterLogic working out, Looking4new?

There are some beautiful, spacious buildings shown above, but here's my thinking.

My BX and now B2620 have been mostly under tarps for the past 7 years. I've used my two car attached garage to do maintenance and occasionally jockey my truck outside for a few such days. Lived here for 40 years without a nice outbuilding. But now I decided to get a ShelterLogic just large enough to get the Kubota out of the weather.

I decided that to build something large enough for all the other "stuff" would be too expensive and too much work for this old man by himself.
So, with no code or tax complications I've graded a level area, packed it with the truck, laid a 6 inch gravel base and have ordered a 12x8x20 shelter. The B2620 with a FEL and rear blade will fit with 4 feet to spare in length. It's just for the tractor (ROPS down) and that'll have to do.
Cheers,
Mike

So what did you wind up doing? Is the shed built?

We built a 16 x 24 shed a few years ago, to store our small runabout in. Then came the JD mower, the JD rider, and now the BX25D, plus implements. A giant shoehorn implement would be very popular! The 'Bota booted the boat. For the first time it's wintering outdoors. The tractor and implements lived under tarps for the summer, it was very dry anyway, but with foul weather bearing down, I had to figure out how to keep the metal dry and accessible. I had some scrap PT left over from the fence project and some more PT I repurposed from the original shed ramp (to short for backing the boat in easily). Built a rolling rack that stores the landscape rake, post hole digger and assorted other gear, allowing enough room underneath to store the snow blade, hitches, loader bucket or forks (one or the other is always on the tractor). Looks like I have some extra room on top to fill with something!

What it looked like when built: Barnyard Sheds out of Ellington CT stick built it on site to my plan.

What it looks like now: I added the deck, chicken coop, chicken day run and a longer ramp.

Interior, 1st floor: Snug as bugs. Ready for anything mother nature throws at us.

Implement storage: 4 x 7 Rolling rack made from scrap PT. Heavy duty shop cart under the rack handles the 60" blade and either the forks or the loader bucket (whichever is not on the tractor). I pick the rake with the forks and set it down outdoors when I need to hitch it. The large casters on the cart make it easy to pull out and spin around for whatever tool I need.

Your shed looks great. Mine is underway, I just have trim, fascia and soffitt to finish. 18x20ft and concrete floor. My brother said "You bought a Kubota so you could build a shed for your Kubota?" :)

Some people just don't get it, poor souls......

Nice looking shed! Mine only has a 7' high door, but I built it long before I even thought about a tractor. I am considering building another building behind this building - purpose built for the tractor, so the boat can stay indoors. when I told the wife my plans, she said exactly what your brother said, but used somewhat more colorful language, about me, the tractor and the boat!

Yes, I almost ripped the garage door off my house a few times. Shed has a 7.5' door and solves that.

My wife was incredibly supportive. I even got her on the roof to help with the trusses. IMG_5556.jpg

We used to store the boat in the attached garage, again with 7' high doors. There are two very distinctive dents in the aluminum trim above the door, from some idiot forgetting to lower the bimini frame before pushing the boat inside. Thank goodness I, I mean the idiot, didn't use the truck to back it in. Probably would have a taller opening for sure! One shaped like the bimini frame.....

I've been considering designing an "early warning system" for the shed, just in case that same idiot tries to drive in without lowering the ROPS. Something with string and a bell? Wife said instead of a bell I should mount a shotgun over the door that would go off. She pointed out that it would certainly focus my thoughts, but I get easily distracted thinking about the next project......

Sorry it took so long to get back to you....
In answer to your question, the one for my Jeep just got a new cover last year and it has been up for 5 years or so. The one my Kioti is in is still up from 2012 when I got the tractor. Everything on it is original.

Here's the one that I just put up this summer. So far I'm happy with the product and the service. It's the top of their line product. I've got about $700 in gravel and timber base. And $2100 in the product with Shipping....12x24x8.

This is not what the wood, concrete and nail guys would want. But it should last me till I croak.:drink:

Cheers,
Mike

P.S. I did all the work by myself except for pulling the top cover over....needed one extra guy for that.

Thanks, daves. I am pleased with how much "stuff" that can be parked in there.....e.g. Cyclone Rake + parts, a 18 HP L&G tractor, spare tires and assort stuff. Trapping incoming mice leaves a little more room too.

Now you need a cat for the mice.
As Deano mentioned waxing the zips. A good wax to use is drysuit zipper wax. It will not melt in the high temps of summer.
The nearest dive shop to you is at 75th and I-35. The KC Dive Shop. One stick would do all those zippers several time.
