A backup camera for $50!!!!!!!!!!!

I used the front camera yesterday with the bucket to level a couple of spots in the yard where I removed two stumps and filled the holes last winter. Really worked nice to watch just how much I was scrapping off the top.

Thanks for the update, CB. Sounds like your setup is working well. I've had my second camera for awhile. I'll likely use your approach when I finally get a round tuit. In the meantime, procrastination is being rewarded as more reports come in. :)

Well....I raised the front end loader too high and pulled the wires out of the back of my front camera. I haven't had time too look at it to see if I can put the wires back in, or if I'll need to order another camera.

Will you be modifying the way you run the wires when you repair/replace the FEL camera? Sorry this happened to you. Thanks for updating us on your experience.

I'll have to allow more wire for when I raise the loader. I have a 20 meter (about 60') cable which is what came with my system. Most of it is rolled up on the floor in the cab.

Today I took the old camera apart to see if I could re-connect the wires, and I could not. Everything was too small.

I ordered another camera today from ebay for $40. CCD 120 Degree Angle 4pin Water Shock Proof Rearview Backup Camera Bus Truck | eBay

There were some cheaper ones, but not with the 4 pin connection I need. And, this one ships from within the USA, or at least thats what it says. I also ordered a 5 meter (about 15') cable for $17.50. 5M Waterproof Extension Video Cable w 4pin Connectors for Car Reversing System | eBay

Let us know how the camera works out, I'm thinking of something like that style camera to replace my small cheap one on the front. Like to find something with a bit more magnification maybe something with less wide angle would help.

Here is a pic of the rear camera late in the evening, the cam is in the cab looking through the glass and gets a bit of glare when sun is shining just right into the camera. But over all think it's going to work out good. Will see how the front cam works with bucket and forks next day or so.

CB, try aiming the camera down some. Granted it is nice to see the horizon in both directions but it keeps the stuff on the three point below the center of view (where the best focus is). Aiming it down would also help prevent some of the glare issues, but could pick up more reflections from inside the cab against the glass.

The back camera is fine, I'm talking about the front cam.

The new camera came in today. It seems to be almost the same as the old one. I'll hook it up tomorrow. I'll be loading big rolls of sod onto the sprigging machine tomorrow. I don't know if it's supposed to be any different from the old one, but I'll find out tomorrow.

The new camera plugged in and hooked up exactly the same as the old one. But, it looked like the picture was not as good as the old camera. However, I didn't get to use it much, so I can't really tell if there is much difference.

One of the front wheels on my tractor locked up about 20 minutes after starting the project, so I had to park that tractor and go get another.

Ouch , hope it's not a big problem and you can get it fixed. Between weather and other things going on I haven't been able to try using the front cam much.

Ok- so I finally decide to try a camera so I can see my forks. I read this whole thread and make my list and order from Amazon. My question is: who on here had a bad camera and slipped it into a freshly ordered box and returned it???
Everything is perfectly new except the monitor- it is all scratched to heck and the only sign of a screen protector is the remnants in the lower corner. Switcharo 😡
New one on the way but very disappointed. Oh -the screen had purple halos around all bright objects...

I have 2 camera monitor systems with cameras suggested by the OP. I have one on my tractor with 2 cameras and one on my truck with 1 rear camera.
The monitor in my tractor died after 14 months. Bought a replacement and installed it. Last month the rear camera on my truck quit. I decided to try a different style waterproof infrared night vision camera for $11. It worked great for 1 day. By the next morning the camera was full of water from the heavy dew that night. Lens was completely fogged over inside so the pic on the monitor is just a blurr. Not very waterproof. I did get a refund on that one. Just started looking for another camera for the truck. In the meantime I borrowed one from the tractor. I did like the night vision cam. Big difference backing up the truck at night to a trailer. Just have to find one that is really waterproof.

I hope your not suggesting sending a failed device back claiming it was the new device you just got that didn't work.

That's why I won't buy anything off Amazon unless the listing at least says "Fulfilled by Amazon" or I know the company. I've had a three for three failure rate when I don't follow my own rules. I got a refund or replacement on all three but it's just not worth the hassle or time waiting. I have never had a problem with items that come from Amazon directly and I've ordered a lot. It's my go-to place now that Ebay is such a mess.

No- I was saying that is what someone did to me. It came from Amazon but I think someone else switched it out and returned it. To look at package it looked perfectly new - just the monitor was used.

With literally millions of potential sellers listing stuff on eBay, I guess there are bound to be some rotten apples. Even in dealing with Chinese sellers, I have always (so far) been able to get satisfaction. You just can't be in a hurry! Things I think I will need in the FUTURE are what I focus on buying from Hong Kong or mainland PRC now...

Same here. As Amazon grew, they failed to police the companies under their umbrella and I got screwed by two. No refund, no replies to emails, and no way to escalate to Amazon. One I returned the item and that was it, no refund, no recourse, end of communication. At least with ebay, they protect the buyer somewhat better, and have feedback ratings to keep the sellers honest in most cases.
