Anybody ever eat roasted Kale chips...them things are addictive!
I like my oatmeal with the crunch that steel cut oats gives it. Less that 5 minutes on the stove with blueberries and walnuts thrown in as it boils the water out!
We are getting 8 eggs a day now. -Fried, omlettes. pancakes, french toast (with my bread), quiche, home fries (our potatoes) - it all feels healthier than the stuff I used to eat.
Cabbage stew in the crock pot- our: tomatoes, cabbage, turnip, potatoes just tastes right. I flavor with hungarian paprika, cayenne pepper, cilantro and black pepper.
Meat- I am a softy and won't kill our chickens. I generally don't eat it unless my wife wants some.
Coming back to this thread after a while. Maybe there should be a thread on GMO. On the topic of cooking, 2Lane (post 51) mentioned a green chili stew. Please post the recipe. I make a simple green chili using green chiles (anaheim and jalapeno), onions, garlic, and pork roast. I serve it in bowls, or in burritos, or in tacos, or for breakfast with eggs and tortillas. A family favorite for many years. Always looking for new options though.
Have you ever tried posole? .
- Turnips - looks like a huge radish! Stores not more than a few weeks. I cube, blanche, and freeze them. -Never had rutabaga as yet! When you say turnip is that a true turnip or is it rutabaga. I only ask because around here the terminolgy is interchangeable with a lot of folks, and it becomes confusing for many others lol!
And just FYI for those that might not don't know the differences a Rutabaga is actually cross between a cabbage and turnip.
Tcreeley I know a local farming entrepreneur who is raising organic free ranging chickens for markets and when it comes time to sell the processed birds he steadily gets more than $25 each on average. Or better than $5.00lb
Never had rutabaga as yet!
