and re Tom Sellers in the immediately preceding post. Where I grew up (between the Roman Wall and the more modern England/Scotland border) nobody grew any sort of pumpkin or squash. I was at least in my 20s, possibly 30s before I saw one. So we made Jack Shine the Miggys from bagies. Hard work and many a stabbed hand.

Wow you really are a McDonald

OldMcDonald do you have any squash favorites now considering your current location...some of my most favorite squashes I like to grow have deep Mediterranean roots!

Oh ya I like Ellla too! Delicious...brownies I mean. :D
I'd eat anything she cooked for me, even health food brownies. Whatta babe!

A more sinful brownie recipe from a famous old Boston Cooking School (Fannie Farmer):

FANNY FARMER BROWNIES
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
6 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. nuts (if desired)
Butter 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Melt chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat and add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well. I double this recipe. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until dry on top and firm to touch.

Pumpkins, like tomatoes, were a New World fruit/veggie.

Still hard to imagine Italian cooking was once without tomatoes..

Why cook for taste buds only when you can cook for taste buds and health?
She is cooking for her health (A new concept!) after being hospitalized for Postural Tachycardia Syndrome.

The brownies are cooled and delicious.

Because, well, chocolate.

Chocolate brownies would always trump sweet potato brownies unless the latter came with the babe.

And don't forget, chocolate is a health food.

Not if you have an arrhythmia problem (darn it!).

Not if you have an arrhythmia problem (darn it!).

All things in moderation. I thought SVT was only associated with consumption of large amounts of chocolate.
