minor detail... I will say that I don't drive behind any trailer anymore unless I absolutely have to and I keep a distance. Just didn't realize how many folks haven't a clue how close they are to converting to darwinism.

Good idea, that $8k might pay for the first few days of legal fees if you're involved in an accident that harms someone knowing and admitting here you trailered illegally without regard for public safety. Hopefully my daughters and family are not on the same roads you drive.

No pic, But I put my BX24 in my 6X10 dump trailer with no problems, just hang the FEL over the front, in fact I don't even strap it down since it holds itself in place by doing this.

Who am I to judge but I make sure mine is chained down. I don't like straps on equipment. Chains and load binders work well and it's not going anywhere when they are one four corners.

When my newish L3400 came home from Maryland's Eastern Shore on New Year's Day (105 miles, more or less) my buddy hauled it for me. He has a good, big trailer with 2 axles with brakes, ramps (aluminum ramps he had a boat welder make for him, since the steel ramps were killing his back), etc., just like check's. I was impressed. He carefully X chained it in the back, then pulled it forward and chained the front with load binders after wrapping some special nylon straps over the front axle... I don't know much about trailering, having only a 4x8 little one good for a 1000 lbs, if that, and no truck these days. He explained what he was doing and why, and went on to tell me about a friend of his who was hauling a tractor he owned, got stopped by the state police for something, and when he gave the cop a smart answer, the cop got out his rule book and went to the trailer and truck rig. When he was done, the guy had over a $1000 worth of infractions written up.

Like on of the other posters, I tend to avoid traveling behind trailers, and will often look at how they've secured their loads when I pass them. Often not good. In fact, I wish the cops would pull more of them over when they obviously are a danger.

Let's do some math for all the lawsuit fearing Americans on here to try to put them at ease

yanmar tlb approx 2700 lbs
5x10 trailer made of 3 inch c channel and 2x3 tubing,
12 inch 10 ply tires rated at 1550 a piece
inproper 4 bolt wheels rated at 1250(5 lug are 1550)
sheer strength of a 1/2 bolt? 14,000 lbs
axle was built with smaller hubs so we could keep our tires but they put a bigger pipe in it not sure of the rating on the pipe

So yes, I know the trailer is overloaded with the tractor on it but unfortunatly I don't have the huge pockets everyone else does to spend 7 grand on a dump trailer I have no other use for.

This year the tractor has gone 25 km to my dad's work to dig out some fence post and 15 km the other way to plant 30 cedar trees at my cousins house. I take my time, drive the speed limit and I'm on back roads not the long island expressway doing 85 mph. It is strapped down also to avoid the dreaded summer salt over the hood of the truck killing a school yard full of children

so in closing, yes its illegal , yes its overweight.
are the wheel studs going to snap ? no.
are the tires going to melt off? I doubt it
am I going to rear end a bus full of schoolchildren? in a full size truck with 4 wheel disk brakes, doubt it
am I glad I live in canada? ugh..ya
