John Deere LA110
I have a quick question guys,
I have a John Deere LA110 riding lawn mower, the transaxle was making noise, so while not using it during the winter months, I removed it, it looks to be a tufftorq model K46. Looking around I was able to obtain another K46 but the fan and drive pulley are different, my original one has the fan on the top of the pulley and the one I picked up has the pulley on top of the fan. Can I swap the pulley and fan system around? My original housing has a sticker with a 40J on it, The newer one has a 40A on it. Any Thoughts, Thanks. Dan

Hi Grampy37.

Welcome. I may not be the best to answer your question. I think the issue you may face is belt alignment and clearance. Others on this site are more qualified to help. Just wanted to say welcome.

Thanks Dave, I got home from work and took it apart. The main shaft coming through the housing were the same. I changed them around and will try it out.

Not real familiar with the tufter trannies but is it possible the input shaft rotaion was clock wise on one and Counter clockwise on the other? I.e. which way did the fan have to turn to blow air across the tranny?

Hi daves1708, This MDS49201,
I have a LA 145 that bought at auction . Thing will not climb the slightest incline after get's warmed up.
I went looking around the computer and found bad news. There is a class action law suit that some one is trying to against J.D.
There is a kit that you can get from J.D. an I believe It was K 46 something. But it is a bigger tans. Tires ,Fan, pulley .
But hang onto wallet when you go purchase it. I have not heard if the suit is up and going yet or not? J.D. will not put a recall a them.
I'll try and find out more and let you know. My LA145 has less then 100 HRS on it. I was Thing about trading it in on something else and it
will not be a J.D. But I hat to do that because it will go to some else.
