Kioti DS3510 1949 Ford 8N
Well here I am as a newbie asking one of my first dumb questions. How do y'all insure your tractors?
I bought a new DS3510 and called my auto insurance and got the answer I thought I would is that they do not insure farm tractors. I previously had a Ford 8N so I never insured it because of the worth value wasn't that much but, now I need to somehow insure this one as it's not chump change to buy one especially since I paid cash for it
So, who do y'all use or what do y'all do to insure this DS3510? It's stored in my barn and not out in the elements unless of course it's being used. I don't plan on ever really taking it on the roads out here in the country either. So any idea's????????

My home owners does not cover the tractor.
I have mine on an Inland marine policy. (Erie insurance)

Mine's on a rider on my homeowners policy, BUT only cover's me on my property. If I take it off the property there is no coverage.
If you plan to do anything off your own land, especially for $ you'll need a contractor's type of liability policy tied to your actual company.

Mine is on a Personal Property Rider with State Farm. I got two quotes when I insured it. One that just covered it on the property and another if I wanted it insured anywhere. I went for the latter so that I could use it to help out neighbors or trailer it to friends' houses.

Contact CNH Insurance .. Just google it .. Pretty darn reasonable like .. $9 per $1000 so a 20k policy is about $180 with $250 deductible

WOW! I called my homeowners and they said they it's covered it no problem with no additional money. But, ONLY if its for my use and on my property. If I take it off property it's not covered even if I have to transport it in for say for service or to fuel it.
Now, I called my auto insurance which my trailer is insured through (Geico) and said it will be covered BUT liability ONLY. That sure doesn't help my tractor though when it's being transported on my trailer that is covered with them. The strange thing is that cars being transported on my trailer WOULD be fully covered but NOT the tractor...Strange

Blueriver, Is that off property also and also if it's on my trailer being trasported?

I was told by State Farm that the tractor was covered under my homeowners on my property only. It is considered a property maintenance tool like a lawn mower or snowblower. But if I was to say, run into a tree and break an axel that damage is not covered. I believe fire, theft and liability only.

Mine is covered on an Inland Marine policy through State Farm. $313.20/year.
I can take it to town for fuel, (1.5miles) but that is it.

Inland Marine policy here too with Shelter. My backhoe is also on that same policy.

Yes and they are easy to work with .. They will quote you .. Write coverage and pay with CC or invoice you and pay by check .. They insure more than tractors .. I've got things like the baler, grinder mixer, backhoe etc with them.

Paying Farm Bureau $120 year coverage on our GC1705. Only covered on our property though. Like others, I believe it is an inland marine policy.

Mine is covered under my homeowners policy - State Farm. Its only covered while the tractor is on my property.

Mine is also covered by a rider on homeowner's policy. Since none of my equipment is shedded (and therefore a bit easier for somebody to steal), I made a special point to itemize the major attachments/implements in the insurance rider.

I have my JD 790 on an auto policy with State Farm. Have had others on auto policies with American Family.

I,m in a rural area, not sure if that makes any difference, shouldn't, but with insurance, who knows!

Have you contacted agricredit, I know they offer some insurance if you paid cash and didn't finance, but I've not read much about what is actually available. My kubota is a rider on my homeowners with coverage off property and physical damage if I were to wreck it driving it down the road way ect.
