Good Morning. 0555, thunderstorm, 71F with 98% humidity. Forecast high of 70F with 90% chance of rain this morning, and a low of 30F tonight. Not too much going on weather wise, just a tornado warning, tornado watch, freeze warning and a hard freeze watch. There is more thunder and lightning right now than rain. There was a tornado that touched down at the local prison doing some damage. Another just passed a few miles to the west of the Larro Ranchero. As soon as the front passes, it will be getting colder all through the day. Then really cold tomorrow.

I have a Henry bolt action in .357". I got mine used, so I don't know what the new ones cost, but I have been pleased with the rifle.

Since I'm awake I will go ahead and start my cardio and lifting early today. I slept through half the race, so I should be caught up on sleep. Hope everyone has a good day,

Larro

How well does the 357 shoot in the Henry. Prices range up to $800 for your particular rifle new by the way. For the 22 in the $300 dollar range. Hope no Dorothy and Totos visit your hacienda

Morning all. Hovering around 32˚ with wet snow and about an inch on the ground. Tomorrow's low is 8˚ with a high of 21˚ - burrrrrr! Great looking cat JD! Unfortunately our cat Tyler is probably making his last trip to the vet today. He is 19 and hasn't eaten since Thursday. Unless the vet finds something that can be treated I guess it is just his time. He has been a great cat.

35F and snowing @ 06:00 ... judging from the railing on the back deck, it looks like we got around 4" of the white stuff overnight. Supposed to be an all-day event apparently.

I had gotten up around 01:00 Sunday morning and worked up in the shop until around 10:00 and then came down to the house for some more coffee and to see what was happening. Cupcake was still acting dazed and confused, with no discernible direction ... so I suggested that we act on her earlier idea, voiced a few days ago, that it would be a good idea to have some fire wood laid in here at the house ... you know: just in case ...

Which prompted an inquiry: "Just what else do you have planned for the day ?"

I said my thoughts were that since we had a winter weather advisory on the menu for Monday, and since it was supposed to be a balmy 41F (downgraded to 38F), today might be a good day to get a little more leaf clean up done.

Since she was still in her robe and slippers that went over about like a lead balloon ... you'd have thought that I'd just suggested disowning the kinder and banishing them to the outer realms for eternity ...

Evidently the mating habits of exotic Hawaiian birds on NatGeo held more interest and appeal than the prospect of staying warm in the event of a power outage.

After a whole lot snarling, spitting, and squawking - including one brief foray out into the garage in said robe and slippers ... where it was announced "It's too cold - I'm not coming out !" - she eventually joined me up at the wood pile and we collected enough wood to last 3 or 4 days and brought it down to house and stacked it by the back door ...

Once that was completed, she was now all about getting some work done outside and started gathering up stuff to be put away for the winter ... lol ...

That didn't take too long and then we started cleaning up the leaves and branches in the smaller of two circles ... she announced that she was going to gather some kindling and went got the loppers and pruning saw and started cutting the little branches and sticks.

I suggested that we give the overgrown honeysuckle bushes a severe pruning - which I knew would float her boat - and she attacked them the loppers. I eventually went and put a saw blade on the brush cutter and cut them all off at the ground - probably about 20 of 'em ... 4' or better tall - along with some ash and oak saplings and several stands of multi-flora rose.

She was so into it, I had a hard time getting her to stop to go inside and have some hot chocolate and get warmed up ... lol ...

We ended up getting a couple loads of brush hauled off and another Trac-Vac load of leaves picked before it got dark ... still another load out there on the ground. It sure will be nice to have that area mostly cleaned up come spring.

Given the snow, it looks like today will be an inside day ... with any luck I'll sneak off up to shop here in a little bit.

I am not sure of the rules in your location but it is not within code here if the junction box is hidden, safe or not. You should remove the fixture and disconnect the wire from the switch box and remove the switch box as well. The method you described would make it safe for you but if you move and the new owner decides to figure out what is happening, could make it unsafe again. Not trying to be the safety police but there are also insurance issues to consider and you don't want to give them any excuses.
Former Electrician Albeit North of the Border.

By the way its cold here today with 2 cm of snow, no coffee yet, drop the wife off at the bus stop and then off to Starbucks for my coffee.
24F at sunrise here. High near 40F today but mostly cloudy is the forecast.

I need to make a cover plate today for recessed can ceiling light that will be covered by a floor to ceiling cabinet. The cabinet is going to hide the refrigerant and drain lines for a mini-split unit.

My thought is to remove the light bulb, screw in one of those bulb socket outlet things in its place so the socket isn't empty. Cut a round piece of light sheet metal that will fill the center hole in, and be held in place by the beauty ring. I will also remove and wire nut the hot wire to the light at the switch. The switch controls that one light only. Safe enough?

Check your connections again I made some changes the other day and the neutral slipped out of the connector when I pushed it back in the box, bad on my part. There is a good chance that the new ballast is bad, not the first time. You could switch the tubes with the other fixtures to check the tubes but I assume you would have done this already.
Good evening! Just spent a couple of hours at Dads replacing a 4' florescent light fixture. His ballast on the old one had melted a little.

I put in a new Lowe's fixture and new bulbs and the lights still do not come on. All electric is OK to the transformer and the light tube connectors look OK. I'm baffled!??????? Is there something I'm missing? The others in the kitchen are working fine after replacing the tubes.

Good morning! 29˚ clearing skies not getting out of the 40s today. Ron we nearly have the same temperature here is Texas as you do in Michigan. You need to stop dreaming of Texas. OK now I'm really starting to think seriously about harvesting some firewood after I harvest some breakfast and then harvest into town to do some harvesting in the grocery store. (It's hunting season and the only verb allowed is harvest. It's a friendly verb.:))

JD pretty kitty, she looks like she found a warm lap after getting tired playing with her toy.
